Leon's ball pt 1

I couldn't believe the day was finally here.

Leon's family ball was tonight and I had everything I needed. I bought my silks days ago, and the modiste would be delivering it today. Everything would be perfect. My mother was even letting me wear some of family diamonds since this is a special occasion

I decided to get Thomas off my mind I will not let him control my life the way my father has took control of my mother's. I decided I will not be afraid of him, if he wanted to kill me he had the chance too but he didn't.

Today I wanted to smell and look perfect so I called in my maids and we did a full body preparation. The servants made some new Lavender soap that smelled heavenly, we also had oils imported from India to make me smell even more delicious which also caused my dark skin to glow beautifully. We also washed my coily hair with lemon milk and honey and put in curlers so my hair would be extra curly for tonight.

Once we were done I sent the servants in to get me some milk and biscuits for a snack , I didn't want to eat until the ball. I knew Leon would have great food and I didn't want to spoil dinner.

I hear a knock at my door and my mother walks in with tasia following right behind her. I'm very surprised she hasn't came to my room in months.

"Hello, ioana are you excited for the ball?" She says as she sits on my bed. I rarely allow tasia in here so the first thing she does is look at all my books and things.

"Yes I'm very excited! It will be my second ball. And I do believe Leon likes me mama, he came and introduced himself at the park. That's the start of a courtship right?" I ask in hopes Leon would marry me and take me away so I can be happy and in love.

That's really all I wanted deep, passionate love and to travel the world but not many ladies are able to see the world because right after they marry , they are with child. The only woman I've heard of traveling are spinsters and barren women.

"It could very well be. It is impressive that he took the time and sat with us. He seems like a gentleman and I saw the way you two were looking at each other and it seems to be a genuine connection." She paused and looked back at tasia who was now sat near my mirror with a book she found.

"That's All I want for you girls , a real genuine connection with the person you spend your life with, as well as your brother but it will surely be easier for him than you three. I just don't want any of you to get hurt or make a decision you regret. " This is the first time in my life she's ever said anything like this to me. It has made me so happy.

I hug her tight and she pauses probably confused, But still she wraps her arms around me tightly and we hug enjoying each other's embrace. I missed the feeling of my mother's hugs. We were then interrupted by tasia .

"Hey ioana, what's this red stain on your bed and carpet?" I hear tasia asked from behind me. I turn around and she's in the corner where Thomas appeared last night. I get up to see what she's talking about and there is red droplets on my bed and carpet. My mother gets up and walks around the bed to take a look and she looks at me waiting on an answer.

"Oh... It's just some paint that a servant dropped on accident. I will have her change my sheets before we come back from the ball tonight." I smile and tasia shrugs.

After a few more minutes of talking they both leave the room and I let out a deep breath. I was a very good liar. I walk over to the side of the bed to get a better look and was sure that was blood from Thomas.

He told me to stay away from Leon and here I am preparing to go to his ball. My life has become full of excitement. Faster than I was ready for.

There's another knock on my door and I get up to open it and see who it is. It is Mary and she has a bright smile on her face . She hands me a note and then leaves and brings back the biggest bouquet of flowers I have seen.

They were blue roses my favorite flower and color. The house was filled with different color roses but the blue one weren't in season. Mary smiles at me and closes the door as I take the flowers to my desk. I sit on the bed and I'm surprised of what I read.

"Dear my beloved ioana,

I hope you will attend my family's ball. I wish to introduce you to my parents and hopefully you're soon to be in laws. I would like to court you ioana. I know it's only been a short while but I believe you are the most beautiful woman in the world and I would love the chance for you to be mine. Please save me a dance if you decide to attend.

I had a smile on my face the whole time reading this romantic note. It was so exciting I had my first courtship. My first prospect, I could very well be getting married by the end of the season. I look over at my roses and grab one smelling it falling back into my bed.

I take a look at the blue rose in my hand and my dress that's laying across on my couch and have a wonderful idea.

I have a good feeling about tonight, nothing will ruin it. This ball will be so fun.
