Super blinked the tiredness out of his eyes as he looked around. There was... nothing. Not unlike how it was when he wasn't the one in control. Why was he even awake? As far as he could tell Sonic was asleep since he couldn't feel anything from the hedgehog. They had agreed pretty quickly not to be nosy about each other's dreams, so it made sense that he wasn't getting anything. Though that just prompted the question of why he was awake. Typically when one of them slept the other did; more so if whoever was in control was the one sleeping. Sure they could stay up if the other was asleep but what would even be the point?
He shook his head. Ugh he did not need to be thinking about this that much; he was way too tired to really care. Deciding to ignore the oddity of him randomly waking up he simply relaxed as best he could by leaning back in the air and tried to fall back asleep. Squeezing his eyes shut he waited for sleep to claim him. He waited... and waited... and waited before growling in frustration. It shouldn't be this hard to fall asleep; he'd never had an issue before. He peeled his eyes back open and stared out into the dark void. Well guess he'd just have to try and grab a nap or something at some point during the day. Wasn't like Sonic didn't do the exact same thing sometimes when Super was in control anyway.
Drumming his fingers against his arm he let his feet softly touch the ground. Well since sleep clearly wasn't an option he'd just have to figure out some way to entertain himself. Alone. With no one to talk to or mess with. Chaos, this was going to be awful. Maybe he'd try meditating. It was something that Tails had suggested he start trying since it might help him keep under control if he was ever exposed to too much chaos energy. Wasn't like he had anything better to do. He settled down into a comfortable seating position and closed his eyes. He focused on his breathing and tried very hard not to focus on just how bored he was. Though the more he tried to relax the more... unsettled he felt. At first he'd thought it was just because of his general frustration at the whole situation, but no. Something was definitely wrong.
Opening his eyes he peered back out into the void. He suddenly felt very much not alone despite him seeing and hearing nothing. Standing up his eyes darted around to try and catch sight of whatever was here. It wasn't Sonic that much Super was certain about. Pinning his ears against his head he decided to change his approach. "Show yourself you coward! There's only room for one extra person in this head, so you're gonna have to leave before I painfully evict you." His eyes still darted around nervously despite his threat. Something about this just had him on edge and, as loath as he was to admit it, scared.
Only silence answered him, but yet something still managed to make his fur stand on end. He resisted the urge to curl up in an attempt to hide. Even if that was an appealing idea to him, which it very much wasn't, there was nowhere to hide here anyway. He shook himself harshly. Why was he even thinking like this? Nothing scared him. Nothing. He vehemently ignored the memory of his breakdown in front of Sonic before.
Standing up straighter he glared into the void. "Whatever the hell you are, you don't scare me." He growled with a confidence that didn't feel quite real. "Why not make it easier for me to tear you to shreds by coming out? It would be faster for both of us." His ears perked up at what sounded like movement. He spun around to swipe at whatever it was but found himself frozen. He stared blankly ahead at nothing and no matter what he did he couldn't move.
That realization had a chill running down his spine. This wasn't like when Eggman tried to control him... but he didn't like it. Almost against his will he could feel his breathing pick up as he felt eyes on his back. Something was definitely there but he couldn't turn his head to look. It was frustrating and... starting to send him into a bit of panic. He shouldn't be freaking out this badly. Just calm down. Do those stupid breathing exercises that Knuckles had tried teaching him before the two had given up and just sparred.
