She woke up to a text from Trisha stating that she had gotten the house and she needed to meet up with her for her to sign the final documents. She quickly responded, it wasn't the original house that she wanted but it was better than staying in the bed and breakfast.
At this point, the encounters she had been going through were starting to rattle her mind. What if that strange man came again, what if those creatures found her way up to her porch.
"Better late than never," she said to herself as she swung herself out of bed and started to get ready. Trisha was picking her up in 30 mins and she had slept in longer than she thought she would. She quickly undressed and hopped in the shower with a little pep in her step.
She quickly threw on some clothes and went downstairs to greet Mrs. Bonny. Mrs. Bonny no longer looked her normal jovial self, if anything she looked drained and exhausted.
"Mrs. Bonny?" Sayde's surprise was evident. "Are you okay?"
Mrs Bonny gave a small smile and nodded. " Stepping out?" She inquired looking over Sayde's outfit.
Sayde smiled and nodded enthusiastically, "Meeting Trisha at the Cafe today, hopefully, it's good news." For some reason she didn't quite feel comfortable just yet letting Mrs. Bonny know she had finally gotten a house.
Mrs. Bonny's expression was grave as she approached Sayde, "Be safe out there dear, there are things out here that are not to be trifled with." She took a step back and smiled gently at Sayde, "Stay safe out there, don't talk to strangers." Mrs Bonny patted her shoulder before turning around and heading upstairs.
She went to say something but was cut off by a singular beep outside. Trisha was here, she took one last look at the retreating figure before beheading out the door.
"Morning hun, ready for breakfast?"Trisha said enthusiastically as she turned down the volume of music in her car. Sayde smiled as she did a side hug and then Trisha was off towards the cafe singing happily from the top of her lungs.
Sayde basked in Trisha's infectious bubbly personality, she even attempted to sing along as well making Trisha giggle with joy. Thirty to Forty-five minutes later they pulled into the cafe's parking lot and headed inside.
A few minutes later they were seated and their order taken. Trisha proceeded to ramble on about her week and how it went. She was out of town for a few showings and how she had closed 2 or 3 houses and Sayde's would be the fourth.
The waitress brought them over their coffee and Sayde took a deep breath, inhaling the scent of naturally roasted coffee.
"Enough about me though, today's focus is on you!" Trisha said with a tiny squeal.
Trisha beamed with happiness for her friend, sipping her coffee as they sat in the cosy café. Sayde couldn't contain her excitement about finally getting the house. Trisha beamed with happiness for her friend, offering her full support.
"I'm so happy for you," Trisha exclaimed, clinking her coffee mug against Sayde's. "You're going to love having your own place again."
Sayde nodded eagerly, a smile spreading across her face. "It's a relief, honestly. It's been a long time coming, but I'm glad everything worked out in the end."
As they chatted about logistics and plans for the move, Trisha noticed a hint of unease in Sayde's eyes. "Is everything okay, Sayde? You seem a bit on edge."
Sayde hesitated for a moment before deciding to confide in Trisha, trust had to start somewhere. Sayde paused, considering whether to share her recent experiences with Trisha.
