The other time she woke up she heard "She's just a human, let's dump her here." The light was too bright to see who was talking about her but the pain in her head was causing ringing in her ear and she couldn't help but wince at the sound of the voices.
"I think she's coming to, we gotta do something about this quickly."
The world faded into black again and she welcomed the peace the ensured this time, 'If she were to die she rather not know when she was going to.'
She woke up to the sound of beeps, groggy and with a headache. She slowly turned her head to take in where she was and was surprised to see Trish in a deep sleep at her bedside. She smiled to herself, maybe she did have a friend here.
She turned her head towards Trish, despite the slight tugging feeling she had behind her head. She rested her hands against Trish's and rubbed it gently. She woke up with a start her eyes wild in panic before settling on Sayde's face.
"Oh thank god you're awake, they found you slumped at the bottom of the road near the hospital."
"Someone recognised you and called me because they had seen me a few times with you." She rose and hugged Sayde, "I'm so happy you're okay," she said with tears in her eyes.
Sayde put her hand on her head and groaned slightly before looking at Trish in concern, "Someone was in my house last night, they were asking me for someone." She closed her eyes a bit waiting for the pounding to subside, "Then they hit me, I remember them saying something along the lines of they could smell him on me."
She tried to speak but the pain got worse and Trish patted her hand comfortingly. "You don't have to talk right now, just tell me what you need from your place, with directions I'm sure I could get you some clean clothes at least."
Sayde mustered up a small smile before nodding gently. Several minutes and a pen and paper later, Trish was able to get a list and directions out of Sayde before she fell back asleep.
Trish made her way over to Sayde's house and was greeted by a car packed outside the house?
She parked on the curb and got out suspiciously eyeing the vehicle parked behind Sayde's truck.
"Abi," the concerned voice said before she catch sight of them. She turned towards the voice and saw the son of one of the prominent figures in society. "Mr. Dahael what brings you here?" Trish said in surprise.
"I heard that one of our news additions to this town got attacked and wanted to offer them sincere apologises and to make sure they are alright."
Trish turned and smiled, "Oh, that's absolutely sweet of you Mr. Dahael, I'm heading back in a minute just came to pick up some stuff to bring back to the hospital so if you want you can meet me there."
He nodded in appreciation, "Yes that would be great, I would hate for them to see us in a bad light because of one unrelated incident."
Trish beamed with happiness and walked past him and towards the house. "Would you need any help before I go?"
Trish shook her head and gave him a small smile, "Nope, just grabbing essentials and I'll be done."
"Then I'll wait in case there's anything you need and in case anyone is still lurking in there."
Trish paused and turned to look at him, key in hand. This was something she didn't consider because it was daytime but now that he said it. She nodded at him then turned the key in the lock and unlocked the door. She entered the house and was greeted by a small breeze from the back door being opened.
She quickly pulled out her phone and took pictures of the area and the opened back door before gently closing and locking the glass door. She tipped toed around the area and then opened the list. She quickly grabbed the things that was needed and put it into a tote bag. Looking around to see if there was any unlocked windows that needed to be shut and then went back out locking the front door behind her.
She heard a small rumble as Mr. Dahael got into the car and backed out of the driveway. She gave him a small wave as she headed to her car and made her way back to the hospital. Thirty minutes later they were back on the hospital compound.
They quickly went up to the front desk and the nurse had someone escort them to the room where Sayde was. With a quick knock Trish entered and motioned for Mr.Dahael to wait . She was relieved to see that Sayde was up and propped up against the pillows with a hint of color returning to her cheeks and more life in her eyes.
"Sayde," Trish said softly as she entered, holding up the bag of clothes. "I brought your things." She placed the bag gently on the chair by the bedside, her face warm with relief.
Sayde looked at her with gratitude and managed a small smile. "Thank you, Trish," she murmured, her voice still soft from sleep and exhaustion.
Trish gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. "You're welcome. And... there's someone here who wanted to check on you. He's one of the Dahaels, he was at your place when I got there and said that he wanted to personally apologise to you" she said, glancing back toward the door where Audeion stood waiting.
"Ah sure," she said hesistantly. 'It couldn't be who she thought it was.'
At Trish's nod, Audeion stepped inside, his expression one of genuine concern. "Miss Bloom, I hope you're feeling better. I heard what happened and wanted to offer my support. No one should have to go through something like that, especially not in this place."
Sayde's eyes widened slightly, surprised to see him again especially under these circumstances but she kept her composure. "Thank you for coming. I... don't really know what happened," she admitted, her fingers fidgeting with the blanket.
Audeion's gaze softened as he replied, "Just focus on resting for now. We'll take care of things in town, and you'll be safe here. We'll do whatever we can to make sure nothing like this happens again, I'm once again sorry that this happened to you and I promise you that we will get to the bottom of this."
Sayde nodded, reassured by his words and the strength in his tone. She felt a strange comfort in his presence—a comfort she couldn't quite understand but trusted instinctively.
