Audeion watched Sayde drive away in her Jeep, a sense of warmth lingering in his chest from their unexpected encounter. The evening had taken an unexpectedly delightful turn, leaving him with a smile on his face and a curiosity about the strange tug he had felt earlier. He turned towards his vehicle and entered it.

"Finished chatting it up Mr. Dahael?" Aaron said playfully from the passenger seat. Audeion chuckled before starting the vehicle. "Not chatting it up, just catching up," he said seriously.

"I haven't seen her before, who's she?" Aaron asked, turning back to look at where the jeep once was. She was really pretty and he had never seen her around or seen Audeion give a woman any time of day even when they had just met and when flocked towards him he always had an air of disinterest. He would always wander away or strike up a conversation with one of the guys there which is how he ended up becoming acquainted with Audeion in the first place.

"I met her in the city we were in, she was moving out of the building I had rented from and I was moving into the building. We sorta clicked on the elevator and got to talking, I think she's my mate or that's what the voice in my head keeps telling me"

Aaron looked at him curiously, "Your mate?" He turned to Audeion, his expression thoughtful, "Well I can tell that you're not joking but what are you gonna do about that now?

Audeion quietly enjoyed his drive back to Daysville the radio barely audible in the background, the scenic route offering a calming distraction from his thoughts. He sighed, his hands gripping the steering wheel. "I don't know, Aaron. It's unlike anything I've experienced before. It's like there's this invisible thread pulling at me inside my head even my heart aches a little bit."

"I've never had one but, I'm assuming what you're feeling is the mate bond our beta told me all about it when I became curious on what it was about," Aaron pondered a while before saying. "I guess this wouldn't have been a problem if you could smell, beta Dallan says that when you find your mate they smell like the most beautiful thing in the world. The smell drives you crazy until you mark them and make them yours"

Audeion couldn't shake off the feeling that Sayde's presence had stirred something within him, something that could not be explained at the moment.

The conversation shifted back to the pack meeting, the gravity of what was said at the meeting weighing heavy on them in the silence.

"It's a dangerous game they're playing," Aaron remarked, his gaze focused on the bustling activity outside the car window.

They had found out that there were skirmishes near the outskirts of Daysville involving rogue werewolves.

Patrols had been put in place to protect the citizens and pack members in Daysville. Getting the police involved was another story, thankfully they had friends in high places but the shift of power everytime they asked for help was not worth it, not to him at least.

"The fact that they didn't recognise us and attacked two Alpha's sons is also very concerning as well," Aaron said in concern.

"Yea," Audeion sighed in frustration. "We can't afford to let our guard down, especially with the recent developments."

Their conversation paused as they navigated the familiar roads leading back to Daysville. The moon hung high in the night sky, casting a silvery glow over the landscape.

Audeion drummed his fingers lightly on the steering wheel, his gaze drifting to the bustling activity outside, they were finally entering into Daysville. Home sweet home, well for Audeion

The encounter with Sayde had left a lingering warmth in his chest, but there was something else, something stirring deep within him that he couldn't quite pinpoint.
