♡ Of eyeliner and arcades ♡
Katsuki let out a heavy sigh as he shuffled back into the dorms after his jog. The weather was finally starting to get warmer, meaning he could actually go out to jog in the evenings without feeling like he'd lose a toe due to frostbite.
He dragged his feet to the kitchen to grab a glass of cold water. Leaning against the counter, he had a clear view of the television and couch combo where a lone student sat. The common room was unusually quiet, for a Saturday at least, and Katsuki found he missed the usually bustling atmosphere. He didn't spare much time on the thought though, as he let his eyes drift off to the couch again.
He saw Y/n with her hair tied in a messy bun to stay out of her face and her body slightly hunched to look at something in front of her in fierce concentration. He eyed the girl as he brought the glass up to his lips. She was looking in a mirror, holding what he assumed was eyeliner.
He watched in amusement as she brought it carefully to her one eye before she dropped it and let out a string of colorful curse words. It was impressive, how creative her language could get, that at times Katsuki felt he barely held a candle to the girl.
Ever since that one day when she showed him up in training, he found himself in a strange kind of friendship with the girl, if it could even be called that. Sometimes it seemed more like a rivalry than a friendship. What, with all the impromptu sparring sessions they got out of each other. But then he would think of all their quiet study sessions or their late-night baking escapades, or even the fact that Y/n was part of the self-proclaimed 'Bakusquad,' and Katsuki knew that this was ultimately not a rivalry.
"God fucking damn it!" she yelled again, picking up the eyeliner from the ground and grabbing another tissue to wipe at her eye.
Katsuki placed his empty glass in the sink and walked closer to the couch where Y/n sat, watching as she tried and failed to apply the eyeliner again, dropping the poor pen to the ground for the umpteenth time.
He let out a snort from behind her, leaning on the backrest of the couch next to her head. She spun around with eyes narrowed in frustration and a smudged left eye, causing his snort to become a full laugh.
"What's so funny?" she mumbled, the irritation clear in her voice.
"Your eye looks as bad as the time I gave you a black eye at training!" Katsuki managed in between his laughter. He was practically doubled over, and every time he thought he had it under control he would look back at Y/n's unamused black eye and burst out laughing all over again.
Eventually, though, he managed to calm down enough to plop down on the couch next to her. He wiped the tears from his eyes and looked back up at the girl who had gone back to cleaning her eye with a wet tissue.
"If you're just gonna sit and watch me struggle, I'd rather you leave," she said, bringing the eyeliner pen up to attempt another wing.
"Well, I'm not surprised that you're struggling. Why the fuck are you holding it like that?" he asked with a raised brow. She was holding the pencil with her forefingers as if it would lash out and bite her at any given moment.
"How else am I supposed to hold it?!" she asked with an exasperated sigh, letting her hands fall in defeat at yet another failed eyeliner wing.
Katsuki managed to successfully hold back a snort as he moved closer to Y/n, holding out his hand palm up. She eyed his hand with a quirked brow before looking up at him to meet his gaze. He knew her well enough to be able to read the question in her eyes: "What the fuck do you want?"
