What Andrija wrote on his diary..

Dear diary,
I recently read Anne Frank's book about suffering, suffering and fear during the
Holocaust.
So many people lost their lives.
Innocent children were killed. Really unimaginable what a human mind can do.

War, war brings destruction, loss of life, fear, hunger....
Why do people go to war? why are they killing each other?
Why do they commit atrocities worse than the most bloodthirsty beast??
Because of politics, territories, economies..
Is it possible that killing and destroying is the only way to develop some countries or people?

I can't find a satisfactory answer to all these questions, but what is unfathomable to me is torture, survival, the need to exterminate a nation, and the killing of children.
Works like Desanka Masimović's "Bloody Fairy Tale" and "Anne Franks diary" triggered a storm of feelings in me.
How is it possible that foresters exist?
What kind of human mind can take children out of school and shoot them out of revenge or for any other reason??
How is it possible that Jasenovac, Auschwitz, Dachau exist? Anne Franks diary describes only a fraction of the suffering of people.

I listened to the stories of now grown-up
people who fled as children from the war with Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina...
Columns of refugees, planes overhead, children in columns. Terrible, really terrible.

I hear about the war in Ukraine and the unrest in Kosovo. Is it possible that we will allow history to repeat itself? Haven't enough people lost their lives and suffered? And while I'm writing this, the verses of Dorde Balasević that I once heard are running through my head.
"So that there is no war,
Madness among people,
The great offer delusions,
They scare us with miracles,
And harm to every fairytale.
Let there be no war.
In the name of all the children in the world, I also shout,
LET THERE BE NO WAR!!. "

A/N:

Everything Andrija has written here is correct. Why is there war? And why do people do this?
He is truly an intelligent boy with a kind heart to think about these.

There was parts that he wrote which stuck with me, being connected about how he was murdered..

"So many people lost their lives.
Innocent children were killed. Really unimaginable what a human mind can do."

"What kind of human mind can take children out of school and shoot them out of revenge or for any other reason??"

It just hurt me knowing that this is the exact reason he's gone.
