F.E.A.R (Forget Everything And Run...Or Face Everything And Rise) - KimChay Au

Chapter 5

(Kim is slowly regain his memories and Chay is slowly regaining his feelings.........trouble lies ahead!)

He heard a rumble, a snuffle, as if someone was weeping. It wasn't just the normal type of crying though, it was a cry of bone deep pain and sorrow, as if someone had just had their heart pulled out through their mouth and crushed. For a few seconds he couldn't place it, and then it dawned on him, came into clear focus.........Chay........that was Chay's sound......Chay was the one hurting! Why? What had happened to make his mate hurt so much? And why hadn't he known? Why hadn't he been there to do anything? To stop it?

His eyes snapped open, and he looked at the sleeping boy wrapped up in his arms. As always Kim had gone to sleep fully clothed and above the covers. It was as close as he could get to his boy without scaring the skittish Omega away. Chay was still fast asleep, silent, and still, the rise and fall of his chest under the covers showing no outward sign of what he had just been hearing.

Or had he?

Chay had told him that he had amnesia and had forgotten some things. Was this one of them? And if so, why would the memory come back to him now? Maybe it had something to do with Chay seeming so upset when his brother and brothers' mate had turned up earlier in the day.......he wondered which one had produced that sound, that wail of pain, from Chay's body. Then Chay's own words from his second day here swam back into his head..... the conversation about mates.

'..........you didn't really like me Kim.........you were lying to me to get some information you needed...........you made me love you............but you never loved me back!'

It couldn't have been.....

He couldn't......

Had it been him who had made Chay sound like that?

Wrapping his arms a little tighter around the younger man, Kim rested his head against the back of Chay's neck, snuggling as close as he could manage without getting into trouble.

Had that sound and whatever caused it, been the reason Chay was determined they were not mates?

Kim was confused......

He lay there the rest of the night, even with Chay's relaxing earthy scent of flowers and fresh grass unable to lull him back to sleep, unsure as to what other memories might join him in the realm of nightmares.

The next day, the beta doctor........a Dr Ton.....was due to make a visit. It had been decided that home calls would be the safest option considering Kim's severe, and often violent, response to unknown Alpha's and Omegas......and in view of his amnesia, and everyone being unknown.......it was safer if he remained around as few people as possible. This wasn't the first time the doctor had visited the house, the first time being the day after Kim was released from hospital.

As he had done that time, the doctor sat on the single seat, making sure he was sat as far away from Chay as possible. Kim sat in the middle, with Chay's hand reassuringly on his wrist. Just before the doctor's arrival, Chay had also allowed Kim to breathe in the scent from his neck, in an attempt to help him relax and centre himself. Chay had been surprised to feel that it didn't just centre Kim, but himself too, after the antics of the day before. Dr Ton had asked the normal questions. How Kim was feeling, how he was eating, sleeping, etc, to which both Kim and Chay answered. Nodding and jotting the answers down in the old-fashioned notebook the man carried, he simply smiled politely.

'And what about your memories.......have they begun to come back at all yet?'

Kim shook his head.

The doctor simply scrawled something else in his notebook before looking back at the pair.
