Axel pulled me to his chest, his hand on my hip as he placed his lips against mine. I couldn't ignore the fire that burned in my belly or the warmth that flooded between my legs. He did something to me, even if he was a murderer.

"I love you, Emily." He whispered against me. I pulled him closer, his body lying on mine as our tongues explored each other's mouths. I didn't want to say it back. I didn't know if I meant it. My fingers clawed at his back as he pulled the blanket over us, concealing us in case any of the kids came through the door.

We hadn't had sex much. Most of the time I went out of my way to avoid him. Showering, cleaning, crying, sleeping. Tonight was different. I wanted him.

He slipped his shorts down his legs, pausing our kiss to do so. My eyes followed the lines of his abs, tracing them as if I were drawing him. He was gorgeous. His hair was long, covering his shoulders with thick black waves. He smiled up at me, his eyes sexy and filled with lust. He wanted me just as bad as I wanted him. He bent down so his face was between my legs, pulling my panties off with his teeth. He nipped the inside of my thigh which caused a small squeal to sneak from my mouth. His tongue found me, circling and sucking. Right before I climaxed, he pulled away, immediately inserting himself inside me. I let out a moan. Axel shoved his fingers into my mouth, quieting me before moving his hand down to my throat. His other gripped my thigh, pulling himself as far into me as I would allow. He groaned, pulling out of me and flipping me over. His hand covered my neck again, yanking my head back as he slammed into me once more. My hands gripped the mattress, arching my back so he could get all of me. His free hand snaked around my hip, his finger circling my clit. His teeth found my ass, biting into my flesh. The pain was strong but the pleasure was overpowering. He pulled all the way out of me before slamming into me one more time, both us finishing in perfect harmony. Our bodies fell down, hitting the bed. We were silent for awhile, our heavy breathing filling the emptiness.

"Damnit Emily," Axel whispered, using his finger to trace something on my back. I ignored him for a second, deciphering the code. His name. "You're sexy as fuck."

I giggled. "As are you." His fingers found my chin, tracing the bone of my jaw as he adjusted his body so we were spooning.

"I'm glad you're getting accustomed to us, Emily," He whispered. His voice was groggy, sleepy. "I was worried there for a bit about you. That I had made the mistake of letting the kids get involved with someone who didn't understand us."

I turned around so our faces were mere inches apart. His finger stayed on my chin, his thumb resting on my neck as he held my head up so our eyes focused on each others. "Can I ask a question?"

Axel nodded, his face pulling together in a flurry of worry.

"Why do you kill?" I asked. The words were almost unintelligible, fear racing up and down my spine. If he didn't like that question I was surely going to know.

"Um," Axel cleared his throat. "Well, we've done it for generations. The earth gave us animals for supply, sure, but what happens when they run out? My grandfather had been through droughts and years where crops didn't grow. You don't suffer that with people. We've grown used to eating the meat that is in the most supply. I know it's distasteful but you're getting the hang of it just fine. After all you did kill a man, Emily."

I felt like the breath had been knocked from my lungs. I had forgotten about him. Whether it was on purpose or from a barricade my brain put up to help me feel better about the atrocity I had committed, I wasn't sure. The man in the back house.

"Don't feel bad," Axel whispered, his fingers moving from my neck down to my hand. Our fingers laced together, his thumb rubbing my skin as he stared into my eyes. "Don't be upset, Emily. You did what you had to do. Eventually you'll get better at it. You won't cry, or feel upset or sad that they're gone. You'll feel grateful that you gave their life purpose."
