You were walking home from your way back to work. Usually, you would take your car, but it broke down. Because of this, you would have to walk everywhere until it was fixed.

The route you were taking was very busy. The streets were crowded, most likely because of how it was December, so everyone was out holiday shopping. The crowd made you feel a bit overwhelmed, but you'd just have to power through for awhile until your car was fixed.

While you were walking, you saw someone with fluffy brown hair sitting down at a bench. You were still in the habit of reminding yourself of Toby every chance you got, so your mind automatically went to Toby. But then, you realized something. That person was wearing a black mask that covered his lower face, and had the exact same eyes Toby had. He had a black turtleneck, boot cut jeans, and black converse. Holy shit it was Toby.

You stood there dumbfounded, not caring you were in the way of other pedestrians. He hadn't noticed you yet, and you didn't want him to.

All this time you had thought that the moment you saw him again, you would embrace him so tightly he would have to gasp for air. But now, things felt different. You felt confused, and angry even. You knew he left to protect you, but that doesn't change the fact that he still left you. Not to mention, you didn't even know if he really did still love you or not. It had been over two and a half years, since you had last been with him. There was a good chance he had already moved on with his life.

Tears formed in your eyes as your legs moved. They were moving away from Toby and towards your house. Your mind was filled to the brim with all sorts of thoughts, and hardly any of them were good.

Once you got home, you sunk down onto the floor, and just sat there. You didn't know what to do or thing. You spent what felt like eternity grieving, but now he was here, in your neighborhood. You wanted ever so desperately to go back and be with him, but you were too scared. Too scared he moved on, too scared he wouldn't care, and too scared he would just blow you off. You couldn't face rejection. Not from him.

You went to your room and crashed down on your bed, almost immediately falling asleep. Your shoes were still on, you were wearing your clothes from work, and you hadn't eaten diner yet. You went to bed sad, worried, and hungry.

In the middle of the night, you were woken up by the sound of your window being opened. By the time you were fully awake and aware, you didn't see anyone at the window. They were inside your room. Fuck.

You grabbed the pocket knife that sat on your nightstand. Toby had gifted it to you towards the beginning of your relationship, and now was the first time you had to use it to protect yourself.

You slowly sat up and ran towards your light switch, quickly turning it on. You then ran downstairs and outside the house, away from the danger. Well, what you thought was away from the danger.

Just seven steps out of the house, you felt someone grab you. You let out a shrill scream and without thinking, you punched the figure in the face.

"Aww...fuck that hurts!"

The person let go and you began to run away, but then, you realized something. You recognized that voice. It was Brian, one of Toby's "coworkers". You immediately turned around.

"Brian? What the fuck are you doing here?"

He remained silent, and without another word, he ran away. You ran swiftly after him, trying to get answers. He ran behind the house, meeting with the person who was in your room.

You recognized him, too. It was Tim.

You caught up with them and immediately restated your question and added a few more.

"Why are you guys here? It's been almost three years! Where's Toby? Did something happen?"

The two looked at each other and sighed. Finally, Tim spoke up.

"About a year after the...incident...we all kinda assumed you had moved away. But yesterday, Toby said he thought he saw you. He wasn't sure because you looked different, but he swore it was you. So, he had us sneak into your house to see if you still lived here, and if it really was you who he saw."

So Toby didn't move on. He still did care. Even more emotions and thoughts began to swarm your heart and mind.

"Why didn't he come here himself? Why did he make you guys come?"

Brian sighed.

"So many questions...must we answer them all?"

You glared at him.

"Fine, fine. Well you know exactly why he couldn't come. The Operator told him it would kill you if he saw you again, remember?"

You did know this, but you wanted to forget it. You wanted to forget how you couldn't see him, and you wanted to forget how your life was in danger. Then, Tim began to speak.

"And the Operator probably wouldn't be too happy with us talking to you, too, so we need to get our asses out of here." Both Tim and Brian began to walk off back into the forest. You found yourself running after them again.

"Wait, please don't go! I don't care if the Operator kills me, I want to see Toby."

After hearing this, both Tim and Brian exchanged a look of pity towards you.

"I mean, if you really want to, we could take you to the mansion, but don't say we didn't warn you."

Your eyes widened, and your heart was beating a million times a minutes. You would finally be able to see Toby again. You would finally be reunited with the love of your life.

"Take me, I couldn't care less about what happens to me."

Tim sighed.

"Fine, then follow us."

Author's Note: When I tell you I've never had such bad writer's block while writing this chapter I'm not exaggerating. It took me multiple hours just to figure out how I should expand this chapter and how it should play out, and it's not even 1,000 words. -_-
