After the overly obnoxious encounter with one of the other residents, I open up my computer to see a new message from 8327. It simply read "Hey, I texted you first this time 8963, sorry about my laziness." I stare at the message for a while and all I could manage to think was "the absolute nerve of this person." While I'm trying not to get us killed he's barely responding at an appropriate time, not to mention he types with a nonchalant resolve.
Without thinking it through, I send him a message which was in fact filled with complete sarcasm. "Finally, what do you want? A round of applause? If we die it's your fault." I guess after my sudden outburst they had no words, because they were hesitant to respond. Before they had logged off for the night, they had written a very vague message saying "Okay look, I swear I won't text late anymore."
As I logged off as well, I heard voices that sounded as if they were coming from right below me. At first I only registered an older sounding woman, but then I heard a new voice. The only words I could make out before silence once again shrouded the building were "room inspection" or something of the sort.
After an hour, I become tired. I turn off all the lights and find a blanket to compliment the temperature of the room. As I finally get comfortable and drift off to sleep, I hear a knock at the door. Without checking to see who was there, I open the door. Before I even open my mouth to ask who he was, the officer states that he would be conducting a room search to insure I haven't been doing anything to cheat the system. "That's odd." I think to myself before gesturing for the officer to step inside.
At first he just looks around. But after not finding anything, he moves everything, which ruins the organizational system I had implemented on my first day here. After the hour long search, and the cluttering of the room where I'm currently staying, he finds nothing and exits as if nothing had happened. Panicked, I quickly collect my thoughts, and go door to door asking about the room searches, but the majority of the residents had no idea what I was talking about.
As I reach the final door, im ready to give up. "The person living in this room is named Monroe. Maybe I shouldn't bother, he sounds kind of old." I finally decide to get it over with and knock on the door, and to my surprise, when he opens the door he's actually around my age.
