chapter 20

Maria's pov:
I can't even remember what happened. The only thing that stayed in my mind was the warmth of his hands holding me, invading my body as he carried me.
What happened? Did I die? No way I don't think so.

I woke up, my head hurt, my arm hurt, everything hurt.
I tried to get up only to let out a whimper. My arm felt so weak.

-Love! You are awake, fuck you scared the shit out of me!
He was tearing up.
He came to hug me rapidly but gently to not hurt me. What even happened? I can't remember anything, except for the fact that I almost died but he saved me. Then I remembered how we argued and the fact that we didn't talk in days. Now I felt so guilty. The way he immediately came to me. I was wrong. He does really love me and I love him and... I am thankful for him. I meant what I said.

-What would I do without you?...
He asked looking deeply and lovingly into my eyes. His lips trembling and his pupils moving fast around my face features like he was searching for any scars. So this is a new side of him I got to know, a side that, once again, I think only I brought it to him. He was worried, he looked sleep deprived and on top of that, he looked like he was about to burst into tears again.

I hated seeing him like that. His smile is beautiful, he should smile more.

-I am sorry...
I said.
-I am sorry I am the reason you didn't smile in the last few days. I am sorry for everything, Woo Young. I want to see you smile, your smile is so beautiful.

Then it happened. A single tear fell on his cheek and I was quick to wipe it away with the hand that hurt less, a gesture which made him lean his head in my hand closing his eyes.

He then opened his eyes and started speaking.
- My love, please, don't apologize. I was the jerk in all of this and I swear to God if something happened to you...
He took a shaky breath before saying the last part.
-What if I lost you? I wasn't there, you could've-
-But I am here, I said holding his hand.

He started caressing my face gently.

-The doctor said that... uhm that you also... Why don't you take care of you?

He knows.

-The vitamins and you have to eat well, love. Please don't be harsh on yourself.
-I know, I just wasn't in the mood to even eat, I am sorry I-
-Was this because of me?

Silence. I preferred to not talk. But he knew.

-So you have a medical wing in your home too, huh? What's next? What else do you have? A gym, a pool?
I said trying to change the subject.

-Maria... Don't try to change the subject.
He said sternly.

-I am so fucking sorry. Please just... never do that ever again. For me. I swear after all of this... I don't want to let you go. Ever. And I said I loved you before but I would do anything for you. Anything. I won't let anyone hurt you ever again, I will be there for you in every moment, no matter what your need is. And yeah, I also have a gym and a pool.
He said the last part laughing a bit, which I found cute since he probably wanted to light up the mood a bit.

-Promise me. Promise me you will take care of yourself.
-I promise. And I also promise I will stay.

He immediately knew what I meant.
He smiled and gave me a kiss on my forehead. Now that was good medicine.

I knew what risks I took with me once I got together with him. However, not even now, after all of this and after what happened, I don't want to leave. It's quite the opposite actually.

I love him so much.

The days passed quickly and because of his presence, the days in the bed didn't feel boring at all. Sometimes he had to go and work but most of the time, he brought his laptop and sat near me. The room suddenly became his second office, he never left my side. It was such a funny but also adorable sight to see. He is so precious.

Sometimes I wonder, why him? But I know for a fact that we are made for each other. Of course, when I thought that somewhere there in the world is the person that completes me, I didn't think it would be such a dangerous person.
He was never violent or something with me, he would never be and I also never saw his boss side I guess. I only vividly remember when he fired the gun in my apartment, only to save me.

-Woo...
He immediately raised his face from the laptop to look at me.
-Yes, darling? Do you need anything?
-No it's just, I crave something.
-Oh of course, what can I get you?
He said smiling, I was having now all of his attention.

-Strawberries!
He let out a little laugh and came towards me, putting a strand of hair behind my ear.
-Of course, anything you want.
Then he got up and I supposed he went straight to the kitchen.
A few minutes passed, I thought it takes some time until you wash the strawberries, they need to be cleaned well because of their tiny pores. However, this fruit is so damn good.

-I am back!
He said while holding happily a plate full of bright colored strawberries.
My mouth watered at the sight.
-Yum! Oh my they look so good.
I grabbed one and while doing so, I gave him a kiss on the cheek.
-Thank you.
-No need to thank me, it's my job to take care of you and I fucking love it.

This man... Why does my stomach make flips when he says something flattering?
-Here!
I grabbed a strawberry and stuffed it in his mouth not giving him time to complain.
He smiled at the gesture and then he served me with a strawberry as well.
-You know, I was thinking...
-Hm?
-I hope it's not too soon or I hope It doesn't sound wrong in any way but uhm... I would really prefer you to be here of course, with me, you know to be safe and also because... I want you here..
-Woo Young? Are you asking me to move in with you?

I was in disbelief, I mean...

-I mean yeah, if you consider that okay and-
I hugged him.
-I would love to. I also uhm, I will also feel much safer, yeah obviously, for that.
And we both smiled.

-Thank you.
-For what?
-For coming into my life.
I said giving him a much needed kiss.
