Not your time

Nico POV

Outside the infirmary was an earie quietness. Nobody spoke, but everyone was pacing around and worrying in their minds. 

Annabeth wouldn't die!

She's gone through way worse.

We couldn't hear what was going on in the infirmary, the soundproof walls kept out the noise inside.

The door opened and Will came out giving some sharp orders to some Apollo kids. 

Thalia went over to him and asked him something I couldn't catch.

Will shook his head and said " It's basilisk poison."

Now I don't have anything against Annabeth other than being jealous at first because she had my first crush with her, but I don't have that anymore, now that I have Will.

But Annabeth didn't deserve to die.

She's not dead yet. So people kept pacing around, more violently now. 

After some time, Will came out of the infirmary and shook his head.

Piper and Thalia, along with the rest of us ran into the room.

Percy was holding Annabeth's hand, his head in her chest. He was crying silently now but I could feel that he was dying on the inside.

Everyone turned to look at me.

I knew why. I looked at Annabeth, her natural aura was replaced by earie darkness and silence.

I shook my head. 

Piper had tears in her eyes, as Will tried to pull Percy away from Annabeth's lifeless body.

Percy refused to move from her side. Piper went over and in a soothing voice filled with charmspeak, she made him sit up, and took him out side. 

But I thought otherwise.

Annabeth wasn't ready to die yet. It wasn't her time!

I shadow travelled to the under world and into my Father's castle.

Hades was in his throne as I bowed down to him.

"Father, I have come to ask for a favor." I said, still bowing.

" Stand up, Nico" Hades commanded. I stood up to face him.

"I know why you are here Nico." Hades stated.

" You know that I got out of the hotel?" I asked.

This was the past, Hades didn't know that me and Bianca were out. How did he know , and if he didn't, why was he so calm.

" This is the past indeed, but I am from our timeline. Your shadow travel can only work in the present time, as time is something not to be fiddled with. " Hades explained.

" Okay, but father, I have come to ask for a favor" I said again, to get the conversation back on track.

" And I know what you are here for." Hades answered again.

He sighed.

"Nico, she is dead. How do you think you can return her? The world has a balance, you can't possibly think that we can break tha- oh what's this?" Hades was saying until her got interrupted by a ghost who manages the dead list.

" Unregistered- WHAT IS AN UNREGESTERED PERSON DOING HERE?" Hades shouted at him.

" Sire, she wasnt supposed to die yet. Someone broke the laws and killed her." The ghost stated, as calmly as possible.

" Return her back! her time isn't here yet." Hades ordered. Then , massaging his temples, he turned to me.

" Nico, you need to escort her back." Hades commanded me.

"But Father! I've come to retrieve a friend! Not do your biding. " I said, through clenched teeth.

" You will escort her back Nico, No more questions." Hades said in an icy voice.

He handed me the girl's document file.

I didn't read any longer. This was what I was here for! I managed to get her back.

" Thank you father." I said, the muscles on the side of my face giving a tug.

" Now go Nico. You can shadow travel back to the past." Hades said.

I saw Annabeth's soul coming into view. I ran to her and took her arm.

" Nico? What happened?" Annabeth asked.

" Everything is fine, don't worry." I assured her as we shadow travelled back.

I went into the room and touched Annabeth's lifeless body. Instantly, a glow erupted , giving out warmth.

Annabeth slowly opened her eyes and looked around.

" Nico, I-" She started.

" Let's go out. And no need to thank me." I replied.

Annabeth gave some weight on my shoulder and started to walk outside the door.

People were gathered around, and in the middle I could see Percy holding Luke by the color, readying himself to give him a punch.

Annabeth left my shoulder and stumbled to the scene.

" Stop!" She shouted.
