"Should I become a magical girl?" Misaki thought in her bed that night.
"I'll have to wait for tomorrow to see how it's done by Akari." Misaki told herself. She turned in her bed and went to sleep. Meanwhile at Mei's she was thinking about being a magical girl too...
"Should I become one? But I didn't have the dream...I don't really want to die." Mei thought.
"Maybe I'm just not cut out for that kind of stuff." She guessed. She barley slept that night. The next morning she didn't want to get out of bed at all. And her parents already left for work. So she went to school late that day. Misaki was worried about Mei when she didn't show it for school so she decided to wait for her, but the bell soon rang and Misaki was worried, but she was worried that the demon came back and Mei was in trouble. She also didn't want to miss school but she felt that Mei was in trouble. So she ran to Mei's house as fast as she could go. But then half way she saw Mei come running down the hill that she was going up.
"Mei!" Misaki yelled.
"Misaki!" Mei called back.
"Where were you? I was so worried?" Misaki said hugging Mei.
"Sorry, I couldn't get any sleep last night so I woke up a little late..." Mei replied.
"We're late for school let's run!" Mei said as she remembered why she was running in the first place.
"Let's hurry!" Misaki agreed. They ran back to school and were late for school by ten minutes.
"Excuse us." Misaki and Mei both said entering the class room.
"It's rare to see you late Ms. Misaki, Mei on the other hand I'm not all that surprised." Miss said to them.
"Sorry." They both said in unison.
"Be on time tomorrow please, take your seats please." She told them.
For the rest of that day both Miskai and Mei didn't seem like there usual selves. Misaki didn't raise her hand at all and seemed to be spacing out same with Mei. But Mei doesn't raise her hand and always spaced out, even though she doesn't care much she still does pay some attention. But today she slept through all her classes. Being scolded by every teacher. But she didn't seem to care much. And they're friends seemed to notice. Later at lunch.
"Are two feeling okay?" Someone asked from behind. Misaki turned around slowly, to see Kanon standing there with a worried expression.
"We just stayed up a little too late last night, we'll be fine." Mei told her as if nothing was wrong.
"If you say so." Kanon said and walked away. The afternoon soon passed and school ended.
"Let's go meet Akari." Misaki said to Mei.
"Right, let's go!" Mei replied. They changed their shoes, grabbed their bags and headed out to meet Akari.
"Mei, Misaki, want to walk home together?" Kanon yelled after them running. Misaki turned around to stop and saw Kanon waving. Mei turned around but still kept running.
"Sorry Kanon, but we have something important to attend to." Misaki yelled back to her. As they continued to run. They soon reached the corner where they met Akari. She was standing there in her uniform, waiting for them.
"Sorry we're a little late." Misaki said while catching her breath.
"Not at all, I just got here myself." Akari responded.
"Now, we have to track down that demon from yesterday. I picked up a little residue from it." Akari said while holding her necklace.
"We follow the residue from the demon and it will lead us to it." Akari explained.
"So where do you usually find demons?" Mei asked.
"They usually feast on people who are weak, feeling troubled or no longer want to live. So sometimes I check around hospitals, places for suicide, abandoned buildings , things like that." Akari replied.
"The residue from the demon is growing stronger, we must be close." Akari said. They soon arrived at an abandoned building.
"It looks like it's falling apart." Mei said.
"Be carefull where you step." Akari warned them. They stepped inside the building and headed up the crumbling stairs.
"There!" Akari said as they reached the roof.
"Here, quickly put these on!" Akari said as she handed them a glowing bracelets. They did as they were told.
"What are these?" Mei asked. Suddenly the demon spotted them. She held her hand up to the sky and then suddenly the world tuned red. The city was frozen still in the deep red light.
"Those bracelets allow you to move in this atmosphere. Only demons and magical girls can move in it." Akari explained. The demon stood there watching them ready to attack.
