Above the mountains the sky is blue, and promises oncoming spring.
Beneath the sky an odd band picks their way down the rocky mountain road. A hundred tribesmen, bows on their backs, leading prisoners in ropes and horses covered with supplies.
At their front a woman rides, head held high, white-blond hair shining in the sun. Behind her two men, one silver headed, the other covered with dark curls that cascade down his back.
The small band reaches an even patch of road and the woman kicks her horse onward, picking up the pace. The cape on her shoulders stream like the wings of a bird.
And like a bird from a cage, she does not look back.
