Standing in the doorway, her eyes wide with disbelief, was Bree. Her mouth hung open, her expression a mix of surprise and confusion as she took in the scene before her.
"Bree!" Adam exclaimed, his voice cracking with embarrassment as he scrambled to cover himself with whatever was within reach which once again happened to be Chase's shirt. He flung it on his lap, inadvertently covering Chase's head in the process. "It's not what it looks like!"
Chase's cheeks flushed crimson as he scrambled to his feet, tossing the shirt off him, his heart pounding in his chest as he tried to find the right words to explain. "Yeah, it's just... uh, practice! We were just... practicing!"
But Bree didn't seem convinced, her gaze flickering between Chase and Adam as she processed what she had just witnessed. "Practice...for what?" she asked, her tone skeptical as she folded her arms across her chest. She couldn't tell if she was wanted to run away in disgust, laugh in their face, or just faint, so of course talking seemed perfect. 'Thanks, brain.'
Adam's mind raced as he searched for a plausible explanation, his cheeks burning with embarrassment. "Uh, you know... combat training! We were just... practicing how to...uh....subdue the enemy!" he stammered, his voice growing increasingly frantic.
Bree raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying Adam's flimsy excuse. "Right, cuz you definitely know what subdue means" she said, her tone dripping with sarcasm and a hint of nervousness. 'Why are you still talking??' she yelled to herself.
Chase swallowed hard, his mind racing as he tried to think of a way to salvage the situation. "Look, Bree, it's not what you think," he said earnestly, his voice tinged with desperation. He suddenly became very aware that he was just standing there with the top half of his mission suit dangling at his sides. The air hitting his skin felt ice cold.
"We were just... experimenting..."
Bree's eyes widened in surprise at Chase's confession, her expression contorting slightly as she faced the truth.
"Experimenting..." she repeated, her tone softening. "....with each other?"
Adam nodded sheepishly, his cheeks burning with embarrassment as he avoided Bree's gaze. "Yeah... we were just... curious," he admitted, his voice faltering.
For a moment, there was silence as Bree processed Chase and Adam's confession. Then, unexpectedly, she burst into laughter, the sound echoing through the room as she doubled over with mirth. She wasn't entirely sure if it was a panic response or the pure ridiculousness of the entire situation.
"Wow, I never would have guessed," she said between giggles, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "You guys are something else. I mean, I'd always thought Chase's first time would be with a sex doll at age 30 and that Adam would eventually convince someone out of pity, so I guess this is a step up?"
Chase and Adam exchanged a relieved glance, a sense of gratitude washing over them as they realized that Bree wasn't angry or upset. In fact, she seemed almost amused by the whole situation. They didn't even want to push it by replying to her quips, just simply sighing carefully.
"So, uh... are we cool?" Adam asked tentatively, his voice laced with uncertainty.
Bree grinned, her laughter subsiding as she nodded emphatically. "Of course we're cool," she said, her tone reassuring. "Just... maybe next time, lock the door."
"Oh I already tried that but Chase did this thing with an app and just removed the lock entirely and totally caught me whacking it," Adam explained honestly in his simple-natured self.
Chase felt the vein pop in his head.
"ONLYBECAUSEIT'SMYROOMTOOSOWHYSHOULDIBELOCKEDOUTOFIT" he yelled, mortified.Bree raised an eyebrow at her little brother.
"Right....well maybe knock first when you see a locked door. And Adam," she turned to face her big brother, "in our room? Seriously? That's asking to be caught. Bathrooms exist."
"Oh I was in there too, but Chase walked in on me there too."
"ADAM! STOP TALKING!!"
Bree once again glanced at her younger sibling.
"Wow, Chase...If I didn't know any better, I'd say you wanted Adam to notice you."
Chase bristled, brick red, cheeks puffing up as he tried to hold back words that would just undoubtedly incriminate him more. Adam grinned toothily at him. He was so cute when he was embarrassed. As Bree turned to leave the room, a mischievous twinkle danced in her eyes.
"Oh, and Adam?" she called over her shoulder, her lips quirking into a playful smile. "Nice briefs."
With that, she disappeared out the door, leaving Chase and Adam alone once more. As the tension in the room began to dissipate, Chase couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of the situation.
"Well, that was certainly... unexpected," he said, his voice tinged with amusement, trying to laugh off his embarrassment.
Adam grinned, his cheeks still flushed as he shook his head in disbelief. "Tell me about it," he said, his tone rueful. "I think we just set a new record for awkwardness."
"For real."
Chase hurried over to the door and changed the combination on the pinpad, ensuring he was the only one who knew the code.
Adam looked at him inquisitively
"So why are you locking the door?" he asked dumbly, his lower lip drooping a little.
Chase pinched his eyebrows together. "So no one can come in?"
Adam smiled goofily.
"Ah so we can finally plan that surprise party for Leo I was talking about?"
Chase pressed his lips together.
"Adam, with all due respect, shut the hell up and kiss me."
Chase's words hung in the air, charged with a newfound sense of urgency. He had reached his limit with interruptions, with explanations, with awkwardness. All he wanted now was to feel Adam's lips on his, to lose himself in the heat of the moment without any distractions.
Adam's grin faded into a look of surprise, his eyes widening as he registered the intensity in Chase's gaze. But any hesitation was quickly swept away by the raw desire that burned between them.
Without another word, Adam closed the distance between them in three quick strides, his hands reaching up to cup Chase's face as he captured his lips in a hungry, fervent kiss.
Chase responded eagerly, his arms winding around Adam's neck as he deepened the kiss, their bodies pressed together in a frenzy of need and longing. He could feel Adam's heart pounding against his chest, matching the frantic rhythm of his own as they lost themselves in the heat of the moment.
For what felt like an eternity, they stood there, locked in a passionate embrace, the world fading away until there was nothing left but the two of them, lost in each other's arms.
But just as Chase felt himself succumbing to the overwhelming rush of sensation, a voice shattered the blissful silence, sending a jolt of panic coursing through him.
"Chase? Adam? Are you guys in there?"
Chase's heart sank as he recognized the voice—it was Leo. Of all the times for him to show up unannounced, why did it have to be now?
Adam pulled back slightly, his eyes filled with frustration as he met Chase's gaze. "Seriously?" he muttered, his voice tinged with irritation. "Can't we catch a break for once?"
Chase sighed heavily, his shoulders slumping with defeat as he realized that their moment had been once again interrupted.
With a resigned shake of his head, Chase turned towards the door, steeling himself for whatever chaos awaited them on the other side. But as he reached for the pin pad, Adam's hand shot out to stop him, his gaze intense as he met Chase's eyes.
"Wait," he said, his voice low and urgent. "I change my mind. We're not done here."
