~one year later~

Adam scrolled through his phone, looking for another song to play during his bus ride. Ultimately, he settled on his trusty Taylor Swift megamix. It was soothing, after all. Sitting on those seats for an hour can make anyone irritated.

A light and airy female voice played over the bus speakers.

*ding* Next Stop: Centium City's Davenport Tower.

Adam felt a flutter in his stomach as he slung his black messenger bag onto his shoulder and prepared to hop off. He sent a quick text to Bree who responded immediately.

Adam: yo finally pulling up!"
Bree: "eeee I'm so excited to see you!!"
Adam: ":) is Davenport home yet?"
Bree: "not rn, but he knows you're arriving today and said he will see you tomorrow morning! He's still on paternity leave so he can't hang out too long. Douglas went to a conference he should be back late."

Adam paused with his thumbs hovering over the screen, pondering his next question.

Adam: "is Chase at home?"

When he clicked send, he hoped his nerves weren't detectable through the screen. The three dots indicating Bree's impending response were agonizing.

Bree: "No buuuuuut he's gonna be cumming soon I bet ;)"

Adam turned five shades of red and locked his phone. He was not going to dignify that with a response. It had been almost a year since he had seen his siblings. He and Leo had overseen the academy students as they started their next chapter, breaking them up into teams and sending them off into the world. It was decided that the island would remain their home base, seeing as it would be quite difficult to adopt out a hundred bionic teenagers with half their memories gone.

With security no longer an issue, Perry had left the academy to return to Centium City, her hometown. Of all places, she chose to move into Davenport Tower. Anything to be closer to Douglas. And just perhaps she missed Donald, Bree, and Chase too.

Adam shook his head at the thought of seeing her again. It was amusing in a sense. He and Leo hugged her goodbye, now here he was a month later visiting the very place she moved to.

Adam and Leo continued to go on missions together and live at the academy right up until it was time for Tasha to have the baby. In a tearful embrace, the bionic stepbrothers exchanged their farewells, promising to keep in touch and see each other again soon. Leo had returned to Mission Creek to live with his mother and new baby sister Naomi while he attended college. Janelle was happy to finally have him back.

The last of his team, Adam tried to keep himself busy with directing mission alerts to the various teams. A few weeks after Leo left, Adam couldn't stand it anymore. He called his father, tears in his eyes.

"Mr. Davenport...I miss them. Everything is going so well at the academy. Taylor is actually a natural leader, better than I ever was, and...I'm all alone..." Adam sniffed, trying not to mention Chase. No one knew except Bree, which he was more than happy with.

Mr. Davenport could see his eldest son's stress through the video call.

"Don't worry, Adam. I'm sure the kids are able to handle themselves. They are at the expert level now. Tell you what...I have to stay with Tasha right now, but I can send a private jet to pick you up."

Adam looked up at the screen. "You'd do that for me?"

"Of course, son. Now, come on, what are you waiting for? Start getting ready to move to your new home. Centium City awaits!"
