BOOM!
A deafening explosion rumbled through the certain place in Switzerland. Yet it didn't deterred the young man from going down to the underground tunnel.
"This is a bad idea,Damian."
The tanned young man looked back to his companion. His deep green eyes glared through her.
"I don't think you're much capable to think a better idea, Mara."
His companion, a young lady with black hair and green eye, though her right eye was blind and grazed scar.
"Ducra warned you. It's not going to work. The Lazarus pit does not bring back one to life, it will just make your mother an undead zombie with no mind. Would you really do that to her?"
Damian continued his way down, carrying his mother's corpse along with a stone he stole from the All Caste.
"I have the stone. I have read that it could bring her a new life. So I'm going to do it."
"You don't even know if—"
Damian whipped his head." If you dare so much to speak nonsense again Mara I shall carve your remaining eye out. Do not test my patience." He grits out. Mara wanted to say more. To say how stupid this plan is and that they should save Athanasia from captivity instead. To save their remaining living family, instead of someone who already passed to the other side.
She followed his cousin as she watched him carry his mother's wrapped corpse in a bridal style. Then after the last step they saw the green pool of youth and madness.
Damian spread out the linen that wraps his mother's body. He then place the stone on her sternum.
It was a blood red colored stone, clearly split in half. For the other half, they have no clue. But based on the faded and nearly unreadable texts they found about the stone is that it gives the bearer a 'new life'. Whatever was that supposed to mean. As long as there's a word "life'' written on the text Damian obsessed with it immediately and now holding a ritual both of them surely had no idea of. Of what they are risking here.
But for Damian, any risk he would face. As long as he meet his mother again. As long as he have his ommi by his side, he would face any challenges and consequences resulting of this half-baked ritual. He doesn't care.
He went inside the pool and stopped when the green acidic water reached his waist level, then he submerged his mother's corpse along with the stone.
When Talia's body is fully submerged for a minute, the stone shone a bright light. Damian felt his hopes went high. The same as with Mara. It may seem that this ritual would have a chance to actually work.
For a moment that felt like an eternity the light stopped. Damian fished his mother again from the green waters. A breathe and two, both of them waited, yet there was none. No reaction. No breathing. No life. Damian's expectations were crushed.
He let out a scream. A scream full of sorrow and despair. Of anger and guilt. Hearing her cousin's pained wails made Mara's heart clench.
Then another loud explosion and the whole underground. The ground shakes.
Mara felt the walls of the cave will collapse any minute. She went beside Damian who was hugging his mother's corpse.
"Damian! We have to get out of here!"
