The next morning, New awoke to find Tay absent from their shared bedroom, a tell-tale sign that he had likely spent the night with Princess Anya. New felt a little sting in his heart, he grab his chest area,"What wrong with me?" He brushed it off and prepare himself to go down for breakfast.
Heading downstairs alone, New joined King Alexander for breakfast, his demeanor calm and collected as he greeted his father-in-law with a respectful bow. "Good morning, father," he greeted, his tone polite and composed.
"Good morning, New," King Alexander replied, returning the greeting with a nod. "Where is Tay?"
New's expression remained neutral as he concocted a plausible explanation. "Oh, Tay is still sleeping," he replied smoothly, his words delivered with practiced ease. "He seems a bit tired these days, so I didn't wake him up, father."
King Alexander nodded in understanding, accepting New's explanation without question. "I see," he remarked before turning his attention back to his meal.
Just then, Tay stealthily snuck back into their room, his movements quick and silent as he changed into fresh clothes before making his way down to the dining area. As he entered the room, he spotted New and King Alexander already seated at the table, their conversation paused as they glanced up at his arrival.
Tay approached the table with a sheepish smile, bowing respectfully to his father as he greeted him. "Good morning, father," he said, his tone contrite as he apologized for his tardiness. "I apologize for being late for breakfast."
King Alexander regarded Tay with a nod of acknowledgment, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes as he responded. "Good morning, Tay," he replied warmly, his tone tinged with understanding. "It seems New thought you could use some extra rest."
Tay's heart swelled with gratitude towards New as he realized that his husband had covered for him. He exchanged a knowing glance with New, silently expressing his appreciation for his understanding and support.
As they continued their breakfast, King Alexander brought up the topic of New's sister's upcoming wedding, his tone filled with anticipation and excitement.
"So, New, your sister is getting married next week?" King Alexander inquired, his voice carrying a hint of enthusiasm as he addressed the topic.
New nodded, a proud smile gracing his lips as he responded. "Yes, father. It's a joyous occasion for our family," he replied, his tone reflecting his genuine happiness for his sister.
King Alexander's eyes lit up with approval as he listened to New's response. "Indeed, it is," he agreed, his voice filled with warmth. "I trust everything is proceeding smoothly with the preparations?"
New nodded once again, a sense of pride evident in his demeanor. "Yes, father. Everything is coming together quite nicely," he confirmed, his tone confident.
