As New continued to recuperate from his injuries, Tay remained steadfast by his side, offering support and care. Each passing day brought a gradual improvement in New's condition, but with it came a growing sense of closeness between the two.
One afternoon, as Tay assisted New with his meal, a small protest could be heard emanating from New's room.
"I'm fine, Tay," New insisted, his voice tinged with stubbornness. "I can feed myself."
Tay, however, remained resolute. "No, you always leave your lunch half-eaten," he replied gently. "You need to regain your strength."
"But they taste horrible," New protested, wrinkling his nose at the sight of the meal.
"They're nutritious," Tay countered, spooning a mouthful of food. "You need to eat."
With a reluctant sigh, New opened his mouth, allowing Tay to feed him. Despite his initial reluctance, New couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude towards Tay for his unwavering care and concern.
New finished his lunch, a servant arrived with a tray bearing a bowl of medication. The sight of it made New tremble with apprehension.
"I don't want to drink it," New protested, his voice filled with reluctance.
Tay, however, remained firm. "New, stop behaving like a kid," he chided gently. "You lost a lot of blood, you need to drink this to replenish your strength."
"But I've been drinking this for days now," New argued, his frustration evident. "It should be enough by now."
"The doctors prescribed it for months," Tay reminded him, his tone unwavering. "Come on, just pinch your nose and drink it."
New pouted, his expression pleading as he tugged on Tay's shirt. "Tay, can I skip it for today?" he pleaded. "They taste horrible and yucky."
Tay felt a twinge of sympathy at New's plea, but he remained steadfast. "No, New, don't try to act cute," he replied sternly. "Hurry up and drink it."
With a resigned sigh, New reluctantly grabbed the bowl and began to drink the medication, grimacing at the taste. "Yuck!" he exclaimed, making a face.
Tay couldn't help but chuckle at New's reaction. Seeing an opportunity to lift New's spirits, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a sweet candy, popping it into New's mouth.
New was taken aback at first, but as he slowly savored the sweetness, a small smile tugged at his lips. He looked up at Tay with gratitude, his eyes softening.
"Thanks, Tay," New murmured, his voice filled with appreciation.
Tay smiled back, ruffling New's hair affectionately. "Anything for you, New," he replied warmly, his heart swelling with affection for the injured prince.
