As they settled back into Tay's castle, New's recovery marked a new chapter in their lives. King Alexander welcomed New warmly, relieved to see his son-in-law in good health once more. The joyous reunion was accompanied by embraces and well wishes, as the castle buzzed with excitement over New's return.
However, as night fell and the castle quieted, New couldn't help but notice Tay's restless demeanor. In the dim light of their chambers, he watched as Tay made preparations to sneak out once again, a familiar sense of unease settling in his chest.
New felt a twinge of jealousy at the thought of Tay meeting Princess Anya, a reminder of the uncertainties that still lingered between them. Yet, beneath the surface, there was also a glimmer of understanding and acceptance, a silent acknowledgment of Tay's need for privacy.
With a resigned sigh, New watched as Tay turned to him, a fleeting smile playing on his lips. "New, I will be going..." Tay's words hung in the air, the unspoken implications lingering between them.
"I know," New replied softly, his voice tinged with a hint of resignation. "You don't have to tell me. Just go. I will cover for you."
Tay's smile widened at New's words, a silent gratitude shining in his eyes. With a nod of appreciation, he turned and left, his footsteps fading into the night as he embarked on his clandestine meeting with Princess Anya.
New sat alone in the quiet of Tay's room, the weight of his emotions bore down upon him, casting a shadow over his thoughts. His mind swirled with conflicting feelings, uncertainty clouding his judgment as he grappled with the tumultuous tide of his heart.
For a moment, he hesitated, his resolve faltering in the face of his inner turmoil. A single tear escaped his eye, tracing a path down his cheek as it mirrored the silent storm raging within him.
But then, with a deep breath and a steadying of his trembling hands, New made a decision. He wiped away the tear with a determined swipe, a newfound resolve igniting within him.
Fah blinked in surprise as she opened her door to find New standing outside. His presence at her door in the dead of night immediately sent a wave of concern washing over her, chasing away the remnants of sleep from her weary eyes. Without a word, she motioned her brother to go back to his room and talk, silently closing the door behind her to ensure they wouldn't disturb her sleeping husband.
Once inside New's room, Fah gently led him to sit on the edge of his bed, her comforting presence a source of solace in the midst of his turmoil. Taking a seat beside him, she reached out to grasp his trembling hands in her own, her touch a soothing balm to his troubled soul.
"What is it, New?" she asked softly, her voice filled with concern. "Why are you here in the middle of the night?"
New broke down in front of his sister, his emotions bubbling to the surface, Fah enveloped him in a warm, comforting embrace, her arms a safe haven amidst the storm of his distress. With a trembling voice, he poured out his heart to her, his words choked with tears and anguish.
"P'Fah, can you help me?" New drew in a shuddering breath, his chest tight with emotion. "P'Fah, I don't know what to do... It hurts," he confessed, his voice raw with pain." New's voice was barely a whisper, his plea echoing with vulnerability and uncertainty.
Fah held him tighter, her heart breaking at the sight of her brother in such turmoil. Fah's brows furrowed with concern as she gently pulled back to look into her brother's tear-streaked face. "Is this about... Tay?" she ventured softly, her eyes searching his for confirmation.
With a nod, New confirmed her suspicions, his gaze dropping to his hands clasped tightly in his lap. "Yes," he admitted, his voice barely audible.
Fah sighed softly, her heart heavy with empathy as she reached out to brush a stray tear from his cheek. "Tell me what happened," she urged gently, her voice tender with understanding.
Taking a shaky breath, New recounted the events that had unfolded, every painful detail laid bare before his sister. He spoke of the deal he had made with Tay, the weight of their shared secrets pressing down on him with each passing moment.
