Like a frozen, leaden shell, I waited.
My body, crumpled as a fettered spirit,
Lying still in the wreathing mists of time.
I could never breathe the air in, when it contained nothing of you.
The bridge between us collapsed as I walked towards you.
So I stand here now, lifeless, silent and wan.
I stare into the opening abyss before me.
I wait for the strangling, breathless love you promised,
Little did I know, that was all you ever gave.
