Tuesday came before I could fathom it. I needed to look good for this stranger called Smiggles. I wore a skeleton zip-up jacket with an Invader Zim shirt underneath with a black jean skirt. I put on mid-calf horizontally striped socks and converses. This was just to go to school, but I wouldn't want to change and rush when I got home so I decided to wear this to the park.
I drove to a park in Danbury where we had decided to meet up. It was only about a 20 minute drive from the house, so I needn't worry about being too late.
When I arrived, I swung my head around. There were a couple parents with infant and toddler children waddling around the playground portion of the park, but no sign of anyone around my age. At least, until my gaze stumbled across Adam. I ran up to him and flashed my smile.
Hi, Adam! What are you doing here? I smiled, looking up at him. His eyes widen further as I can only assume he realized something. I saw his adams apple bob in his throat as he gulped. "You're.. You go online as Not Y/Ns World, right?" He asked, fidgeting with his fingertips.
A wave of shock hit me. Smiggles was Adam? No. How was that possible? How are things that connected? No. I was utterly speechless. My mouth was agape and my eyes were wide. How does anyone simply respond to that? I slowly nod my head before asking, "You.. You're Smiggles then?" He nods reluctantly and I pull him into a warm embrace. He stops and his left foot goes behind him for support. His skinny arms leave his side and grip me back.
"You know.." I said as we were still hugging. "I've thought about something ever since I've moved from Newtown." "Hm?" He asks, his head in the crook of my neck. "I remember when I was on a trip here was I was 3 or 4. I was in the woods after getting my shit beat up by my brother and I found a family. The older brother was named Ryan and the younger brother was named Adam or Aidan or something along those lines. A name like yours. Do you know them?"
He pulls away and looks me dead in the eyes, his eyebrows furrowing. "I've been looking for you ever since you left. Y/N, where have you been?"
My shocked face twisted into a smile and I latched onto him again. Tears welled up in my eyed, curse my sensitive-self. I missed you so much I mumbled, wiping my tears on his shirt.
"C'mon. Lets go to my house," he said, patting my hair. I held onto his hand as he led me to his black Honda and I slipped into the passenger seat. The ride to his house was short and silent, though not the awkward kind of silence. It was a mutual-understanding of utmost comfort.
We arrived at a rather large white house. He penetrated the key into the hole and twisted, unlocking the door. He swung it open, revealing a rather beautiful house. Slightly messy, but it had a homey feel. In the living room, a middle-aged woman with blonde hair was watching TV. That was the mother.
Without paying any mind to his mother, no greetings, he led me upstairs to his room. I dont exactly know what I expected, but it certainly wasnt that. Empty garbage bags were taped over his windows, leaving it completely windowless. He had a DDR mat by his computer too, which did remind me of how much he loved the game.
"You know.." I started. "Its really weird how we met each other three separate times and we loved each other those three times. Does that even make sense?" I sat on the edge of his bed. He had light blue colored sheets.
He sat down beside me and faced me. "I know what you mean." It happened slowly at first, but our faces inched closer and closer. I felt his warm breath tickle my face. His adams apple bobbed in his throat.
I closed my eyes and without thinking, I grabbed his neck, guiding him to my lips. They clashed together softly. He was very gentle, though he wouldnt let go. His arms snaked around my waist.
We pulled away, gasping for breath. "You can stay over, if you'd like.." mumbled Adam, trying to distract himself from the fact we had kissed. His face was very red. I nodded and he showed me to the bathroom.
