Chapter Thirty Four

"Could you please tell me where you are taking me." I asked him blandly for the sixth time since we've started walking.

"You'll see."

I rolled my eyes, that's all he's given to me as a response so far and it's aggravating. 'You'll see' or 'you'll find out' or 'just wait'. But I was impatient and curious, I want to know right now.

I followed behind him, making sure to stay close so I wouldn't lose him. We took another turn and crossed the street, I could see a small park beginning to come into view. My eyebrows pulled together as I grew confused but as we got closer the realization started to wash over me and memories came flooding back.

"Ash...." My voice was nothing but a whisper and it trailed off but he was still able to hear me, looking down at me as I stared straight forward.

"Yeah?" He asked, not looking away from me and I finally moved my gaze to make eye contact.

"You're so sweet." He smiled at my comment.

"Oh yeah? And whys that?" A small smirk was spreading onto his lips like wildfire and I couldn't help but to grin like an absolute fool.

"Because," I nudged him lightly, looking down at the ground. Our feet were moving at the exact same pace,"this is where we came after our first date."

I still remember, the ground was soggy from the earlier downpour and there was a bit of a chill. I had no clue where Ashton was taking me but I ball honestly I hadn't cared much that night, I was having so much fun just being with him that nothing else had mattered. We spent what felt like ages having meaningless conversations while he pushed me back and forth on the old set of swings. So many laughs were shared that night, and it was the first time he had ever called me beautiful. Even though we weren't together at the time, when I had taken my hair out of its frustrating bun he just stared at me for a while. And the words just slipped out of his mouth, "you look nice with your hair down, beautiful actually."

I can still feel the heat flushing to my face, thanking God that it was too dark for him to see my blush.

He looked at me, one eyebrow raised and the smirk never leaving. "You considered that a date?"

I didn't know if it was an actual question or not, and I began to feel a bit stupid for assuming it was a date when it had never been confirmed.

"Well I just, it...yeah I guess?"

I heard him laugh from above me and I felt my shoulders drop. "Glad I'm not the only one."

I breathed out, closing my eyes briefly as relief washed over me. At least I wasn't as stupid as I thought I was.

Suddenly his fingers slipped away from mine and in an instant he was feet ahead of me, legs moving like lightning. My movements stopped and a stood still, watching him run away from me. He turned his head to shout something at me, "Come on babe! Catch me!"

I smirked while I watched his body get smaller with the farther he ran. Eventually I got my feet to move, at a pace almost as fast as his but his legs were way longer than mine.

The breathes that left my lips started to become shallow and helpless, and I got tired. Too tired to continue on.

I dropped my head down to look at the grass beneath my feet, and when I looked back up I spotted him. He held a smug look while sprawled out on the grass, leaning back on the palms of his large hands and looking at me.
