Chapter Thirty Nine
My fingers reached down my body to lightly tug on the bottom of my dress. The dark navy blue item of clothing hardly budged and my attempt to make myself look halfway decent- or at least appropriate- failed miserably. I had bought the dress many months ago, it was more of an impulse buy I guess. I knew I was never going to wear it and I never have; until now.
The material clung to my body, nearly suffocating me and I adjusted the low cut top, pulling it up a bit. I gave up once I realized that no matter how much I tugged and pulled, the dress wasn't going to cover me like I wanted it to.
I sighed and dropped my hands to my side, trudging over to my open closet to try and find something else to wear. This is why I hated going out; the stress of having to get ready was almost too much for me to handle and I didn't see the point in going all out.
I pushed through some hangers until my eyes caught a glimpse of the red dress, similar to the one I had on but it was a bit longer and more, appropriate. Without a second thought I slipped out of my current 'clothing' and traded it in.
The bottoms of my feet were already starting to hurt from the black heels I wore and I haven't even left my apartment yet. My make up took a while as well as my hair and I was already tired. Hopefully, this will all be worth it and maybe tonight will turn Ashton's mood around and maybe even make his twenty first birthday a good one.
He most defiantly deserves it. And even though I'm struggling at the moment, I know he really wants to go out and if that's what he wants; that's what I'll do.
I sat down on my bed and glanced over at my phone, a couple texts notifications from him asking if I was ready. My fingers skillfully unlocked the screen and replied to him.
Not even fifteen seconds had passed before the sound of my ringtone filled my ears.
"Hey." I greeted, trying not to sound as miserable as I truly was.
"Im outside- you alright?" The words were swimming in concern and I let out a small laugh to try and sway him.
"Of course I'm alright, I'll be down in a second." I smiled as if he could see me and he replied with a quick 'okay' before ending the call.

The exposed skin of my thighs were stuck to the plastic bar stool as I sat down, waiting for Ashton to come back from the bathroom.
I wasn't having as bad of a time as I thought but every now and then someone would bump into my back or brush shoulders with me and I would automatically start to get irritated and want to leave. But I kept my mouth shut and ignored it because tonight wasn't about me at all, tonight was about Ashton.
My fingers tapped along the thick glass bar and I waited for the bartender to come back with more drinks. The whole time I've been here I haven't stepped on the dance floor, even though this was a club for 'dancing'; all I've done so far is drink.
I'll admit, I'm a tad tipsy already, the music booming that ran throughout the large room was starting to drown out a bit and the smell of sweaty people was starting to fade as all my senses began to grow numb.
The only way I'll have the slightest bit I fun tonight is if I'm drunk. And that's better than being miserable for God knows how long we're going to be here.
A couple of minutes went by and the bartender never made her way back over to me so I spun myself around in my seat, resting my back and elbows in the bar. Just as I did that, Ashton and Michael approached me.
"I'm gonna go find Luke and Cal." The blue haired boy yelled at us both over the loud music, patting Ash on the back before turning to face a sea of people to try and fish for his friends.
