Y/n sat up on the futon bed, completely in a daze as her gaze dropped towards the floor, her ears ringing from the noises of the shrine maidens scattering across the room. The clacking of their zori and their voices overlapped with one another as they tended to her needs since she just woke up.
She wondered how she ended up here at a grand shrine. She has heard stories of the Narukami shrine and its shrine maidens from her nannies in the past, but besides that, she really needed to know how she ended up here.
All she remembered was having a fight with Scaramouche the morning he left for work, and then crying, sleeping, crying again, and...
Oh, right. She ran off on her own to look for Scaramouche and the factory she had been hearing all about.
As much as she was well aware of his protectiveness towards her by not speaking of any certain activities or events, she always found ways to discover his plans of which he kept hidden from her.
Like the delusion factory, for example.
Why did he hide such things from her? Was it to protect her? No. He couldn't. Why would he protect someone who's just debt payment? Maybe she had something to do with it? Was he going to bring her there one day for an awful reason? Why was he doing all of this?
Why, why, why?
Y/n looked up, noticing the silence that had already captured her attention, a woman stood front and center at the entrance of the room. Her bright pink hair was striking, and so was the amused smirk on her face,
"I see you're finally awake, Y/n-chan."
"Excuse me?" Y/n raised a brow, "Do I know you, miss...?"
The pink-haired shrine lady just laughs off the question, approaching her, "Still the same timid girl you once were, Y/n-chan."
Y/n was utterly confused at this point, sighing as she glanced behind the shrine lady as she noticed a figure standing behind her. Her eyes widened at the sight of the newly arrived guests; the traveler and her companion.
"So... T-This girl is... The Balladeer's wife!? Oh gosh, she must be evil, too!" The floating companion shrieked, immediately flying behind the traveler who seemed unamused by their comment,
"Paimon, that's rude." The traveler sighed, shaking her head, before turning towards Y/n, "Yae Miko found you in the delusion factory. You needed treatment because you inhaled the smoke there."
"I... Inhaled smoke?" Y/n seemed even more confused now. First the dream she had, finding herself in Narukami shrine, and talking to a prominent shrine maiden as well as the renowned traveler. She really needed some time to process everything.
"I take it that you needed to see him?" Yae asks, bending down to Y/n's level, "Do you even remember how you ended up there in the first place?"
Y/n shook her head, "I... I just... I needed to see him."
