It already felt like they were millions of miles away before even they pulled away.
Tubbo winced as Tommy's warmth dissolved into the air as they slowly parted.
His heart ached too much. All that was left was coldness, it was like tubbo wanted Tommy to hold him. It was like he needed Tommy to hold him and never leave him.
Suddenly there was a thumb brushing gently on tubbo's face. When did he started crying?
"Don't cry tubbo. Please don't make this harder for me" Tommy smiled softly, sun hitting him on the face, accentuating his features.
The sun had began to set. Tubbo didn't even notice.
Golden hair and icy blue eyes, small scars here and there making him look badass... With the most beautiful heart.
Tubbo sobbed as the blonde pulled him into another hug shortly.
"I-i just d-don't want to lose you"
"Shh it's okay... I know you'll be okay"
Tommy didn't care that his shirt was getting wet or that he was hurting more than anyone could see, he just wanted tubbo to stay stronger.
"Hey c'mon, one last sunset together big man" Tommy patted tubbo's back slightly to motion him to watch this with him.
Tubbo bit his lower lip as he sat on the bench, besides Tommy.
Tubbo's vision clouded as he tried to watch the sunset like they always do.
This was the place where everything began, where tommy and Tubbo would sit and watch the sunset together.
And this is the place where it all will end. The mere thought of it made Tubbo want to cry all over again.
Tubbo wondered if he would have protested against letting tommy go, whether it would've changed Tommy's mind.
But Tubbo could not bring himself to hold tommy. Tommy had enough of that already.
Slowly the orangish pink started fading into the dark blue, just like Tubbo's light was fading.
"the sunset is beautiful isn't it?" tommy asked softly, Tubbo knew what that meant. Tommy loved him so much and the shorter meant everything to him yet, he has to let go.
"It is"
Tubbo replied shortly after taking a deep breath. He knew it was time. But he wasn't ready.
Tommy stood up, bending a little, placing a small kiss on Tubbo's forehead before retracting and gripping his bag tighter.
No my light... My sun... Don't fade so quickly!
"I guess see you later?" tommy tried to smile but failed terribly, biting his inner cheek to stop the tears from falling.
Tubbo knew it was a lie. There was no later. Tommy will be gone forever.
Tommy searched for something in his pocket and took out a red worn out bandanna.
Tubbo shot him a confused look.
"It's yours Toby. I already have mine" tommy replied taking out another bandanna but it was green.
Tubbo's heart wrenched and his chest filled with warmness. He tried to speak but the lump in his throat didn't let him.
"I- will y-you tie it for m-me?"
He managed to choke out. Tommy immediately took a step forward and gently tied it around Tubbo's neck. He did the same with his own one.
"This way we can stay with each other always" tommy mumbled slowly. Tubbo nodded.
"Thank you, thank you for letting me go"
There he did it. He passed his damn smile again which melted Tubbo's heart.
"Thank YOU for being my best friend" Tubbo said too quickly, to prove that he was the one who needed to be thankful, not tommy.
"I will miss you toms"
"Me too tubbo. Maybe one day our paths will be aligned and we can meet again"
"I'll wait for that day"
Tubbo looked down for a second, before he heard footsteps leaving.
Please not so soon.
The brunette clenched his bandanna as he watched the distant silouhette walking in midst of cornfields.
"I think I'll miss you forever... Like the stars miss the sun in the morning sky"
Faraway somewhere there maybe a nation, two compasses needed to be fixed or mending bonds but here are 2 bestfriends, that were separated.
And yes you could call it quite A heartbreak.
