Halle's pov:

"Halle, stop this." she hissed, her words laden with urgency.
"For your own sake you must flee, far from me. Run now or risk losing everything."

My weary lids snapped wide as her terse words pierced the deafening silence. Our frantic flight had lasted an eternity, our clasped hands an unbreakable bond. As we sprinted in harrowing haste, I screamed into the abyss of her stubborn silence, begging for answers-what pursued us,why we ran.

She knelt down before me held my shoulders and whispered "Sorry. I am only doing this to protect you. I'm sorry."

"What...," I stiffened as tears rolled down her eyes, "What are you saying?"

The necklace that hung around her neck, glinting even in the dead of night, caught my attention as she placed it around my neck. The gold radiated warmth, her fingertips brushing my cheeks as she spoke. "I can't change my fate, but you can change yours. No matter where you are, know that mummy would always be with you."

I was young but even I could tell that her smiles were just a delicate mask hiding the tempest of emotions behind her eyelids.

I exhaled deeply, a tear rolling down to my left ear.

Like a thief in the night, the dream retreated back to the recesses of my mind, leaving behind a lingering unease that clung to me like an heavy cloak. The terror, the sadness, all gone in an instant, but their shadows remained.

13 good years of this and I was no closer to understanding it. The thought brought a lump to my throat, my mind swirling with an unanswered question.

What was my subconsciousness trying to tell me?

A gentle touch on my shoulders snapped me back to reality. The sight of Sali's mischievous grin was a sight for sore eyes, washing away my dreadful thoughts.

"You look like you've just been to war," she teased, her voice laced with mirth. "Must've been some dream!"

"How long was I gone?" I asked softly, sitting upright.

"Five hours."

What am I doing? One minute I was all nervous and afraid of being in a whole other world and another minute I'm napping. I don't even understand how I feel about this whole situation. But one thing I have realized whether on Earth or here, there will always exist peaches and bitches.
While Princess Genevieve made me feel welcome and tried to calm my anxiety, her sister was the complete opposite. I don't know why she doesn't like me but I don't care even. I am just worried about my ticket home. It's been more than five hours since Ariel called and now I'm worried because the sun is starting to set.

"You have been without sustenance for hours and the Prince might not be pleased." Sali said, her tone betraying a hint of concern.

"What Prince?" I asked as I helped her move some boxes into the small room.

"Prince Ariel," she replied, "The rumor mill has been churning none stop about the two of you ."

"About what?" I asked again.

"Well it's safe to say that he tore through the firmament and brought you here. I won't have believed it if I didn't see you with my own two eyes. Now that the prince is no longer allowed to come for any official reasons a lot of false rumors have been circulating round town. I always tell my friends that Ariel is not what everyone thinks he is, I mean look he killed hundreds of demons for you and brought you here. He knew you will be safe here, Oselis is the safest planet in the entire multiverse."
