"I'll do it," I said.
"Good."
"Any rules?"
"Nope, you can do whatever it takes to get his number."I looked around. There was countless guys, but I was looking for the right one.
"Hey, look at that guy! He's looking your way, go talk to him!" I ignored her, "Or maybe him! Look he's dancing all alone and looking for someone to join him!"
"I don't need your help."
"Sorry that I was being polite..."Suddenly, I saw a man sitting alone at the end of the bar. He had a drink in his hand and was looking down into it. No one was talking to him. That's the guy I was going to go for.
"Him," I pointed to the man I picked out. I felt proud that I had made a decision with a guy.
"Him?"
"Yeah, what's wrong with my choice."
"It's just... I don't think you should go for him."
"Why not?!" I replied angrily.
"You've never done anything like this and those guys are the more challenging ones to get..."
"Are you saying you think I can only get certain guys?!"
"No... Well kind of."
"That makes me want to go for him even more."
"Kris- just don't be disappointed if it doesn't work out. He looks like he type of guy who isn't really looking for any of this."
"I don't care, thanks for your support."I stormed off. Why did she think that? Was there something wrong with me? I walked right over to him. He looked up at me.
"Uh-" I stuttered.
Maybe she was right, maybe I wasn't ready for this! Damn it, I should've prepared first. I can't just approach a guy like this! I've never even tried flirting with a guy before!
"Can I help you?" Annoyance was evident in his voice.
"Hey," I said, twirling a strand of my hair.
"Hi."This was bad. It was actually so awkward. I took a moment to study the man. He didn't appear to be that tall, but he would be at least taller than I was. He had messy black hair and the wildest blue green eyes. He was wearing a dark blue shirt with a black jacket and jeans. In front of him was his beer that he set down.
"What's a guy like you doing here all alone on a night like this?"
"Trying to take things off my mind..."
"What?"The music was loud, so I took my chances and leaned in closer. He pulled away and stared at me weirdly.
"Nothing, whatever..."
"What's wrong?"
"I'm just trying to forget some stuff!" He snapped.
I flinched, "Oh ok."
"Yeah..."I honestly had no idea what I was doing. How was I supposed to win this guy over?! In the past, I overheard Alyssa and Jess talking about what they do, I don't know. Being in this situation felt so uncomfortable.
I looked around and saw a lot of other couples. I tried to figure out what was in common with all of them. Most were dancing, some making out in the corner, talking, drinking. There was just too much going on I couldn't pick out one thing. Then, I looked to my right and saw one girl sitting down next to a guy. She laughed and placed her hand on his thigh. Hmm... Should I try that?
"Um... So..." I said placing my hand on his right thigh. He looked up at me, "What are you drinking? I'll take whatever he has," I told the bartender.
The bartender came back with another beer and I took a sip. I didn't really drink all that often, but I enjoyed a beer once in a while. Even a glass of wine with friends.
When I put the beer down I accidentally knocked my phone on the ground. I didn't have a case on or anything and I prayed that I didn't crack the screen or damage it because I really couldn't afford a new one. I still owned an iPhone 5 while Alyssa and Jess owned the newest ones.
"Shit," I cursed.
It had fallen behind me, so I turned around to bend down and grab it. I pulled my dress down and picked it up. First, I examined it. Thank god, no scratches or cracks or dents. I swivelled around to face him and then stood up. I noticed his eyes had landed on my chest. I was feeling uncomfortable and pulled my dress down again and adjusted it, so that it maybe would cover more near my chest.
