I woke to the sound of someone tapping on my car window. My eyes flew open and I turned to the window.

I saw my sister. Huh? What was she doing here? I quickly got the window rolled down, so I could talk to her.

"Kris, what the hell?!"
"What?!"
"Why are you not in your flat?! I came by knocking like a billion times and there was no answer. I even waited a whole for you to come home!"
"Sorry."
"Then when I'm leaving, I see your car parked here on the street!"
"I know-"
"Tell me what happened, Kris?! Why are you sleeping in your car?!"

I knew I had to tell Addison. I couldn't lie to her about this. I think she was already starting to put the pieces together and figure this out.

"I couldn't pay my rent in time..." I mumbled quietly.
"What?"
"It's not my flat anymore, ok?!"
"Kris," she said reached in to put her hand on my shoulder.
I moved away from her, "It's ok."

Clearly, it was not ok. Things were going horrible for me. My actions didn't back up my words. I had my head in my hands and I was trying to avoid any eye contact with Addison because if I looked into her sad and caring eyes, then I think I might lose it and cry.

"Tell me everything that happened."
I sighed, "I went out in the morning for a few groceries and when I came back, there was a notice on the door. I knew that my rent was late and that I needed to pay soon and I thought I'd have another day or something... I needed like a hundred more pounds by the end of the day. I only got a bit, but it obviously wasn't enough I was still short on the payment. Now I have to go back at six to collect the rest of my stuff or it'll probably be moved away... I just brought all my clothes and the stuff I need for now. There's still all the furniture and I have no idea where I'm going to put that..."

I sighed. I didn't know what my sister was going to say or what she was going to think of me.

"I just came by to give you this."

She handed me a bag with some of my favourite soaps and perfumes in it.

"Ugh, Addison, you shouldn't have."
"Thought it'd cheer you up," she smiled.
"That's kind of hard to do at the moment..."
"Come stay with us," she offered.
"No, I couldn't do that."
"Kris, I'm not kidding. I'm bringing you back whatever you like it or not."
"Addison, I'm fine."
"You can't live out of your car."
"It's only temporary."
"Still-"
"Go!"
"Wait, Kris. Come on. Be reasonable here. Do you really want to live in your car?"
"For a few days, it's fine."
"No, I'm not letting you do that."
"I'm the older sister and I'm telling you to go, since there's nothing wrong."
"Are you sure?"
"One hundred percent, now go and leave me alone."
"You were always stubborn, some things never change."
"Shut up."
"Love you, too!"

She blew a kiss before leaving. I rolled my eyes at her.

Of course, I couldn't go live with her. It'd be like I'm intruding and I didn't want to do that. It was her house to share with Colton and their child. I'd feel bad living with them. It'd also be kind of embarrassing having to live with your younger sister who's more successful than you are.

The rest of the day I stressed over what I was going to do. With each second that passed, I knew that six o'clock was getting closer.

In the afternoon, I looked around for places that may be hiring. I didn't really find much. I didn't have enough money to rent another place and I couldn't get any money if I didn't have a job... I honestly don't know what I'm going to do.

Five o'clock was nearing and I was getting myself ready to move my furniture some place other than my old flat. I took a deep breath and exhaled. I almost had a heart attack when my car door swung open. Luckily when I saw a familiar face, I calmed down a little.

"Holy crap, Jesús," I said with a hand over my chest, "you scared the shit out of me!"
"My bad, and you should've said 'Jesus, Jesús' because that would've been funnier."
"What the fuck," I said, still out of breath from that scare.
"Sorry, I just saw your car here and thought I'd say 'hi' to you. I'm trying to be nice here."
"Mhm. Now tell me what you're really doing here. The real reason, please."
"Just seeing what you're up to."
I sighed, "Well, living in my car sounds fun, doesn't it?"
"That's sarcasm, right?"
"Yes, you idiot."
"I'm just kidding," he laughed showing his smile.
"Sure you were."

Talking to Jesús was wasting time. I needed to get to my flat and pick up all my furniture. I had to go.

"You know, it's been nice talking, but I really need to go. I have to go get the rest of my stuff before they throw it away. I'm just so overwhelmed. I have no job, no place-"
"Come with me."
"Wait what?!" I was laughing, "Are you being serious?!"
"It gets kind of lonely, I could use a roommate."
"Is this some kind of joke."
"Fine if you don't want to-" he started to walk away.
"No! I'll come."
"Let's go."
"My stuff."
"Screw that. I've already got everything you're going to need."
I thought for a second, "True."

Looks like I wouldn't be going back there anytime soon. All my stuff was old and broken, why did I still need it? It was all garbage anyways.

"You follow," he instructed.

Jesús hopped into his car. I drove behind him to my new home.
