Once we arrived at the restaurant, a bunch of people were gathered. There were cameras flashing and everything. It was quite a sight, one I was not used to.
"Just keep me close and I'll be fine."
He nodded as we got out of his car. He came over to me and put and hand around my waist. He pulled me right up against him and kept a firm grip. I shielded my eyes from the cameras.
Inside the restaurant, it was much more relaxed. His hand on my waist relaxed a bit. We walked over to the part of the restaurant the team had reserved.
"Hey! Look who's here!"
Jesús greeted his teammates who gave him a warm welcome. I just sat down and stayed quiet. It was a bit of an uncomfortable situation since I never talked to any of these guys. Luckily, the one who I had spoken to, switched seats so he could sit in front of Jesús and I.
"Your girlfriend's here, eh?"
"She's not my girlfriend."
"Yet."
"Yet," Jesús laughed repeating him.I couldn't tell if he was laughing because he thought that it would never happen or because he actually agreed with him.
"Why'd you switch seats, Joe?"
"To get the inside scoop on you and your girl."
"You're not a reporter."
"I could be if I really wanted to."
"Sure."
"Joe Hart, here from uh... The... The Joe Hart News Channel! I'm currently sitting across from Manchester City player, Jesús Navas. Jesús, how are you on this fine evening?"
"Shut up."
"We can see that he's a bit cranky, so we won't take long. Jesús, is it ok if we ask you a few questions?"
"No."
"Alright, let's get started!"
"Shut up, Joe."
"Are you currently involved in a relationship?"
"No."
"Does the name 'Kristine' mean anything to you?"I looked up when I heard my name.
"She's a friend."
"What type of friend? A girlfriend," he smirked.
"I already said no."
"Whatever you say, buddy!"
"Just let me enjoy tonight."
"That's it for tonight, folks! Until next time, on The Joe Hart News Channel. Let's all thank Jesús Navas for giving us the time to interview him."
"Alright, whatever."I could easily tell that Jesús was annoyed by all the questions he was getting asked. He'd already stated that we were nothing more than just friends.
Joe luckily left us alone for the rest of the night. Joe was that type of person to go around trying to get into everyone's business. He kept switching spots and talking to his teammates and their wives or girlfriends. It was kind of awkward for me since I was just a friend who had recently moved in with him for a pathetic reason.
"You ok?" He whispered into my ear while we were waiting for the waitress to return.
"I'm good."
"You sure about that? I mean, after that interrogation from Joe," he laughed.
"Yeah, yeah. It's all good."I smiled at him and he smiled back at me. I had my hand resting on my thigh when I felt his hand move over top of mine. He slid his hand across my thigh before tangling his fingers with mine. I looked up from our hands and met his exquisite eyes. They stared into mine.
Slowly, I felt Jesús' other hand move onto my other thigh, as he scooted closer. He continued to hold my hand while his free one slid up my waist. His head tilted to the side and his eyes fluttered shut. I leaned in. I could feel his hot breath bounce off and tickle my face.
"Would you like a dessert menu?"
We darted apart and Jesús untangled his hand from mine. My cheeks were heating up.
"Uh, sure."
The waitress returned with a dessert menu.
"There you are, I'll be back shorty."
Jesús and I didn't say much after what just happened. He looked at the menu and then slid it over to me.
This was awkward.
I wished that we had kissed. Wait what?! I mean... It wouldn't have been awkward like this if we had.
I took a look on the dessert menu. It was expensive like the meals. I couldn't afford this. Plus, I don't think I could eat any of it either.
"Have you decided?"
"Do you want anything?" He asked me, the waitress waiting.
"I don't think I can have anything."
"Oh, right," he said, remembering my allergy, "We'll just skip dessert. Do you mind bringing the bill?"
"Of course! No problem," she smiled and walked away.
"You should've got something."
"Nah, it's late and I'm tired."
"Same."
"We'll just head home then."Jesús relieved the bill and our two meals added up to fifty pounds. Oh my god. He payed for it obviously because I had little to know money and he was the football player. I felt bad, so I thought that I should pay him back in the future.
When we got back to his flat, I got changed into something more comfortable. I put on an old plain t-shirt and some pyjama pants.
After that, I crawled into bed and waited for him to get in too. He lifted the cover and snuggled up next to me. We both took one deep breath.
I turned to him. He was looking at me with that stare he had at the restaurant. He tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear. His hand ran across my cheek. His hand was cold against my warm skin. Jesús leaned in and I let him.
Our lips touched.
I took a deep breath through my nose when our lips were attached and our eyes were closed. He slowly pulled away trying to wait and see to what my response was.
I grabbed his shirt to bring him closer to me. He shot forward and I kissed him back. I think he was a little surprised, but then he kissed back.
He rolled over and got on top of me. His hands cupped my face as he kissed me harder. I pulled his muscular body closer to mine. He straddled my lap and kept his hands on my waist when he leaned down to kiss me again. I moved my hands up his body and left them behind his neck.
I kissed him passionately one last time, before moving a bit. He pulled away too and comfortably rested on my shoulder. His arms tightly wrapped around me and I did the same to him.
What the hell just happened.
