Shadows of Pain
As the weight of Dipper's silent suffering grew heavier, he found himself seeking solace in the one thing he could control - his own pain. Late at night, when the world was quiet and still, Dipper would retreat to his room and inflict small, hidden wounds upon himself.
At first, it was just a way to cope with the emotional turmoil he felt, a way to distract himself from the constant ache in his heart. But soon, the pain took on a life of its own, becoming an addiction that consumed him from the inside out.
Dipper didn't understand why hurting himself made him feel better, why the sting of a cut or the burn of a flame brought him a twisted sense of relief. All he knew was that in those moments, the pain was his and his alone, a tangible reminder that he was still alive, still in control, even as everything else fell apart around him.
But as Dipper sank deeper into his self-destructive spiral, he failed to notice the worried glances and concerned whispers of those around him. It wasn't until one day, when Wendy caught a glimpse of a burn mark peeking out from beneath Dipper's sleeve, that the facade began to crack.
"Dipper, what's that on your arm?" Wendy's voice was filled with concern as she gently reached out to touch the mark.
Dipper's heart skipped a beat as he quickly pulled his sleeve down, his mind racing with excuses. "Oh, uh, it's nothing, just a little accident," he replied, forcing a smile.
But Wendy wasn't convinced. She had known Dipper long enough to see through his lies, to know when something was truly wrong.
"Dipper, come on, you can tell me," Wendy pressed, her eyes searching his for any sign of the truth.
Dipper's smile faltered, and for a moment, he considered opening up to her, letting her in on the darkness that consumed him. But the fear of judgment, of rejection, held him back, and he shook his head.
"It's really nothing, Wendy, I promise," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Wendy could sense Dipper's reluctance to talk, but she refused to give up. She had seen the pain in his eyes, the way he seemed to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders, and she couldn't stand by and watch him suffer in silence.
"Dipper, I'm here for you, okay? Whatever you're going through, you don't have to face it alone," Wendy said softly, placing a hand on his shoulder.
Dipper felt a lump form in his throat as he looked into Wendy's eyes, seeing the genuine concern and compassion reflected back at him. For the first time in a long time, he felt a glimmer of hope, a flicker of light in the darkness.
"Thanks, Wendy," he whispered, his voice barely audible.
And as Wendy wrapped him in a comforting hug, Dipper knew that even in the darkest of times, he wasn't alone. With Wendy by his side, he had a fighting chance to break free from the shadows of his pain and find a way back into the light.
Note: when it's says he does it because he likes the pain it counts physical pain
