Louis's POV
"Hey Harry," I said as I picked up my phone.
"Hi Louis. I've just left my cousins and I'm on my way back."
"Great. Be safe and make sure you arrive back in time for the fireworks."
"I will, don't worry. I'll see you in under an hour."
"Ok, see you then. Oh H."
"Yeah?"
"You didn't drink at your cousins did you? Because you know that over 60% of car accidents happen..."
"When someone's intoxicated, I know Louis. I'm sober, and I'll see you soon."
"Ok. See you soon H," I said before I hung up and went back over to Eleanor.
"Is Harry on this way back?"
"Yeah, he's just left."
"Good," Eleanor said before she kissed me.
"Ewwww," Freddie said and I smiled.
"That's rude Freddie."
"Noo. That was gucky and yucky."
"Adults kiss. It's not yucky, it shows that we love each other."
"I don't want to grow up."
"I know you don't," I said before I went over to him and ruffled his hair. "I don't want you to grow up either."

While we waited for Harry, we got Freddie into his pyjama's and he sat sipping apple juice while Eleanor and I had wine.

11:59pm. No Harry.
"Well, here it is," I said as I stood up and so did Eleanor and Freddie. "To a good year."
"A good year!" Eleanor cheered.
"Yeah!" Freddie shouted before the fireworks went off. Freddie loved fireworks, so I picked him up and we watched them together.

"Ok. Bed time for you," Eleanor said as the fireworks finished and Freddie shook his head.
"No. Fireworks."
"The fireworks are over Freddie."
"No. More fireworks. More."
"There are no more. Bed time for you."
"You're mean," Freddie said as he buried his head into Eleanor's shoulder and she laughed a little.
"I'll get him to bed. Are you going to stay up until Harry gets back?"
"Yeah, I am. I do hope nothing's happened to him."
"I'm sure it hasn't," Eleanor said before she kissed me on the cheek. "He might just be going slowly in the dark."
"Yeah, or he stopped to see some fireworks."
"Exactly. I'm sure that he's fine Louis. Let's get you to bed little one."
"Hmn," Freddie said as he was already falling asleep and Eleanor left with Freddie in her grip.

Half an hour later, I was getting worried. Was Harry ok? Had something happened to him?

Then, thankfully, the doorbell rang and I ran over to it. I flung the door open and hugged him.
"Happy new year Harry!"
"Louis Tomlinson?" Came the reply and I stepped back.
"Oh, hello Officer. Yes, I'm Louis Tomlinson. What's going on? Why are you here?"
"I'm afraid I have to inform you that there's been an accident."
"An accident?" I asked as my heart dropped in my chest.
"Yes, involving Mr Styles. It's on our records that his residence is at this address."
"It is," I said as tears formed in my eyes. "What's happened?"
"His car came off the road and crashed. The fire crew managed to Mr Styles out and he's been taken to hospital. He's alive, but he's in a critical condition. I would recommend that you come with me to the hospital."
"Yes... um... yeah of..."
"I've got Freddie," Eleanor said as I felt her hand on my shoulder. "Harry needs you."
"Yeah..."
"Are you close to Mr Styles?"
"Harry, and yes we are. He's a close friend."
"Ok," The policeman said before I went with him.

The drive felt long. Harry had been seriously injured in a car crash and I couldn't help but think about what kind of injuries he might have. Was he awake? Did he need surgery? Would he be missing a limb or something horrific like that?

My questions were soon answered as we made our way onto the intensive care ward and I saw Harry. He had a tube in his throat and he was unconscious. He had a cast on his arm and on his ankle. His breaths were mechanised and he was covered in cuts and bruises.
"This is Louis Tomlinson. He's a close friend of Harry Styles," The policeman told someone as more tears came to my eyes.
"Thank you. You can leave him with me," They replied.
"I'm sorry about bringing you here on New Year's day."
"No... thank you," I told the policeman as the tears began rolling down my face. I heard him leave and a nurse came over to me.
"People are always overwhelmed when they see a loved on in intensive care. Why don't you come and hold his hand? It's ok to be scared," The nurse said and together walked over to Harry together.
