song, 'i put a spell on you'- Annie Lennox

Melody's POV

I walk up to honey&brew, the coffee shop i work at, the cold air hitting my skin as i unlock the door, next time i should bring a jumper instead of wearing jeans and a flower pattern shirt,  my body shivers form the coldness outside, i try and open the door as quick as possible so i don't die from frostbite.

the february mornings are miserable in the cold, after 5 years living in America you would think i am use to the season switch but nop. I finally unlock the door to the coffee shop, it was empty as the only other person who works here is Mindy who owns the place and is now in her late 70s.

The coffee shop is usually not that busy so Mindy only comes in on days that are busy, the cafe is not big or small, it has tables and chairs every 5 meters, with different photos hung up all around the place.

I go behind the counter, and start to put out the pastries, i made yesterday. I made them yesterday right before i left work,  i put them in the glass showcase thing. I went over to the door to flip over the close sign on the door so it says a bright green 'OPEN' sign.

It was around 6am now we opened 30 minutes ago and as usual no one had entered no one does until around 7:30, 8:00, which i like it makes a slow start of a day.

i was wiping down a shelf when i hear the door bell ring, someone had entered the cafe i look up and see a handsome man, he had black hair, and tan skin, he had on a all black suit, with dress shoes, he looked very grumpy, and handsome, he looked around his late 20s, and wealthy, i quickly go up to the counter to serve the good looking man.

He walks up to the counter, his eyes glued to his phone, i smile at him "hello sir what can i get you this cold morning" i say, my voice was chirpy, and sweet, the man looks up at his phone his eyes darting to mine, his eyes were gorgeous they were a rare color, they were gray "black coffee", even his voice is hot, his eyes then made his way back to his phone, rude.

"Anything else" i say to him, my voice still sweet and nice "no," ok this guy needs to expand his vocabulary "and your name is?"i ask him, his eyes stay to his phone, "Vinn" he throws a hundred dollar bill on the counter and walks off. I take the cash from the counter and put in the tip bowl. i walk off and make his coffee, when i finish his drink i walk over to the table he was at and hand him his coffee "Here you go Vinn, one black coffee" he hums in response, i walk back to the counter.

Around 10 minutes later Vinn walks up to the counter again "is there any muffins?" he ask his voice was blunt and rude "yes we have chocolate, blueberr-", before i finish my word he answers  "blueberry" is all he says, dam if he every comes back here i'm giving him a dictionary. "No need to pay as you gave a $100 just before" i say to him as i hand him the blueberry muffin.

Vinn takes the muffin and leans up against a wall "it good" he speaks his voice is dark and mysterious "have you every thought about reading a dictionary" i say, i slap my hands over my mouth, what the hell did i just say, am i trying to die "why?", he says, his voice blunt and rude "im so sorry" i apologize quickly, why did i say that i have no idea, i don't hold back my thoughts its a bad habit one that has effected others, "go on tell me why would i need to read a dictionary" he says this time he wasn't asking for me to tell me he was telling me to answer "It's just your wording is minimized to  1 to 5 words each sentences" i say to him, i give him a cheesy smile so he isn't so offended "a sentence can't be one word", he smirks, "sorry?" i say to him, i shrug up my shoulders, his eyebrows raise, he is amused, he then walks out the coffee shop slowly.

After a long day I close the shop, I make my way outside to my car, I get in and drive home. The drive home was quite the only noise to be heard was music that was turned down tow music such as Lana del Rey, Frank ocean and Kendrick Lamar. I get back to my apartment and open the door it was freezing inside it always is heating is way to expensive and I can keep warm from blankets, I go to bed around 9pm.
