Now how In Hades did Hermes end up here, shouting across the beach, "Oh Patron! Listen to thee as I tell you a message!'
Allow me, dear friends, to explain...
Alexandra had been on the island for 6 years. She had grown strong, her muscles being lean and defined. She had the body of a runner which she found iconic, she thought she had been running from something her entire life, and now when she saw him, early one morning on the first harvest, she knew she had been running to something. She didn't know why she felt like she was running to him, but she was, she always had been.
When she was ten, she heard her parents speaking behind closed doors, literally. She heard her father say "if it weren't for the war, we would have been the strongest kingdom in the world, the only people with their own children among the Greeks are powerful. We could of chose between Telemachus of Ithaca and Neoptolemus of Crete. Imagine! If our daughter married a Greek prince or the son of the most feared warrior, we would have been strong and safe! But my kid brother Paris had to ruin things. Father abandoned him for a reason."
It haunted her when she remembered it that day during the harvest, maybe because it was his birthday, maybe it was because she had been remembering more and more of her past. She had a habit of forgetting on purpose, then remembering on accident. She hated the habit, thought of it as useless. She blushed when she thought about it and saw him. When she turned back to continue the fall harvest and went to grab a shuck of corn she saw brown sandals on pale feet and the bottom of a blue gray chiton, she slowly looked up already knowing who it was.
"So... cute boy, and he's a royal, good for you little warrior." Said the goddess somewhat awkwardly, like she didn't know what 19-year-old women talked about. "Athenea..." she said as she let out a sigh. "I thought I've told you, I'm not becoming one of your 'warriors of the mind,' not after what happened in that cave..." She said shivering remembering only the giant eye and huge club.
"And he's not some 'cute boy' he's my friend... my adorably innocent and sweet friend..." She continued the last half of her statement starting to sound like she was about to go off into daydreaming. "uh-huh, and you don't look like a lovesick puppy. right now." Athenea said as she crossed her arms. "Why are you here Athenea? To torture me yet again?"
Atenea almost spoke when Telemachus walked behind her and said, "so who's this 'friend' that's so adorably innocent?" It was at this moment that Alexandra choked on air and cursed Zeus for making humans and therefore Telemachus.
"Uhm a boy from my home city, I think he's still alive, but uh you know the whole 'sacking of Troy' thing and uhm well uhm..." She said as she continued her panicked rent. Athenea, making sure Telemachus could not see her by making many somewhat crude symbols right in front of his face, face palmed herself so hard at this sinking attempt of recovery that Telemachus actually looked behind Alexandra to see if thunder was on the horizon.
"Well maybe you should go into the palace and take a break for a while, get some fresh water, I'll walk with you-" "Oh no I'm fine working, or maybe I will take a quick walk, just down to the beach and back, you should go back into the palace though, I'm sure your mother is lonely." She said as she ended with an award 'heh heh' sound.
Now never in Athenea's immortal life had she seen such a pitiful attempt of flirting from both parties.
Athenea slowed time and then said, "do you want me to distract him while you run? is he bothering you, cus I can just send an intellectual plague down onto the country, think of all the dumb children!"
Athenea waved a hand in front of both of their faces, making sure she had truly frozen every one in time. she started to walk on her own into the palace. When she went up into Penelope's room she saw a shroud that was being weaved and almost finished. She also saw Penelope asleep, looking so peaceful and young. "In some other world, dear Penelope, you could be asleep in that bed with your husband holding you, both of you talking about what hopeless disasters that the children who have fallen in love are."
