Maddy's Pov:
I moan, my head throbbing and my body aching. I lie motionless, unable to move.
"Madeline." My eyes snap open, who the fuck- Eve stands, hovering over me with a blank expression.
"AHHHHHH, EVE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!?" I jolt up, hand over my heart.
"Madeline, you have 3 minutes, please start speaking." She says flatly, her voice monotone but commanding. I sit there staring at her, she walks over, taking a seat on my chair. There's an eerie silence between us, my mind is so foggy, barely able to recall last night.
I rub my eyes and take a deep breath.
"So, as you know, I went dancing. For the first bit, I was alone. I don't know if he recognized me when he grabbed me, but anyway, we danced for a moment. He spun me around, and that's when I realized it was Quinn. I didn't have much time to react because I noticed Tyler, he was dancing with a girl but giving me the dirtiest looks ever. I guess I got caught up in the moment, and I thought if he saw me kissing Quinn, he would realize that I'm not scared anymore. That I've changed and he can't expect to have an effect on me. So I kissed him," I pause, feeling a pit in my stomach as I relive last night.
"And I wish I could tell you where - or even how I got all the confidence I did, because next thing I knew, he was following me as I led us to the back. I found a random room, and I kissed him first again, practically jumping on him." I cover my face, groaning, shit, he definitely thinks I'm some desperate whore.
"Long story short, we made out some more, exchanged names, and I realized that you were probably going crazy looking for me. So I asked him if I could call you off his phone, he let me, and well, you know the rest."
I breathe out, keeping my head down. I don't have the heart to tell her I got stood up.
"I don't even know what to say, holy shit Maddy." I bring my knees to my chest, curling up.
"Something else happened, didn't it?" I couldn't stop the tears anymore.
"He- he stood me up. After I said bye to you, I walked to the back doors, it's where we agreed to meet. I waited like 20 minutes and he never showed up-" my voice breaks, Eve jumps out of the chair, running over to me.
"- Tyler came instead, I didn't entertain him much. He brought up Quinn, but that's all I let him say, I walked away before he could talk anymore."
"Oh Maddy, fuck, that's a lot. First of all, how are you, with Tyler?" She asks softly.
"So scared Eve, there was just so much going on at once - and then he showed up, taunting me." I sniffled. "How does he always manage to get me at my low, how?" I say.
"He's sick, deranged. I'm so happy you stayed strong." I look up at her, she brushes a piece of hair out of my face.
"Maddy, you don't need to prove anything to that gremlin, you know you've changed. You don't owe him anything, not even a second of your time. It's all over now, he's gone, we won't see him again."
