Maddy's Pov:

I've managed to avoid Quinn like the plague. Somehow, though, we're now side by side in the car. Ignoring him is killing me, but facing him feels impossible. I tried to pass off my confession as "drunk Maddy," but the way my heart skips every time our eyes meet, or how I crave his touch, says otherwise.

I steal a glance at Quinn. His face is blank, but his eyes tell a different story as he watches the road. I see the longing in them—he'd never say it, being strong and all that. But part of him wants to be with his family, not a country away, only seeing them in the summer.

Without thinking, I unbuckle my seat belt, slide to the middle seat, and loop my arm through his, resting my head on his shoulder.

"Hi, Quinny," I murmur softly.

His eyes drop to mine, and that distant look melts into something I can't quite name.

"Hi, princess," he whispers, pressing a kiss to my forehead. I sigh, snuggling closer, feeling content. So much for ignoring him.

The drive goes by in a blur. Before I know it, we've arrived. Jack and Luke are already out, unloading the trunk. I start to untangle myself, but Quinn wraps an arm around my waist, lifting me onto his lap. I let out a surprised squeal, but then his lips find mine. In the back of my mind, I remember his brothers are only a few feet away, but none of that matters. We deepen the kiss, both a little breathless until the car door swings open.

"SERIOUSLY?" Jack shrieks.

"What? What happened?" Luke's panicked voice follows.

I bite my lip, holding in a laugh as I slide off Quinn's lap. Jack's face is red, practically yelling. Luke just shakes his head and walks off, muttering to himself.

Quinn gives me a wink and steps out, offering me his hand. I take it, planting a quick kiss on his cheek as I pass by Jack, avoiding eye contact. Though I feel his teasing glare.

After gathering our luggage, I glance at Luke, who's stressing over last-minute details.

"Did you forget anything?" He asks, listing items like he's packing all over again. I shake my head. "What about that... that thing you were putting on your lips."

I laugh, pulling out my lip gloss. "Got it. Stop stressing, Lukey." He sighs in relief, and I hold out my arms. His face lights up as he hugs me tight.

"Thanks for making him happy," he says as we pull away, his voice soft.

"Don't get me wrong; it's not like he was unhappy. But he definitely has a glow—one I'd only expect on a pregnant woman," he chuckles awkwardly, turning pale as he realizes what he just said.

"Sorry!" He blurts, I hold in a laugh.

"I taught you well, Lukey." I tease, reaching up to pat his head. He stares at me unamused.
