NANAMI SAT ON A bench, seemingly spacing out. he tensed up as something cold pressed against his cheek. "yo, nanami!" he looked up and saw haibara, who wore a warm smile on his face. "i got us drinks!"
nanami took the drink, cracking it open. "thank you, haibara" "why're you sitting all alone?" haibara queried as he took a seat next to nanami. "just thinking about some stuff.." he replied, taking a sip. "what kind of stuff? curses?" nanami looked over at haibara. he could confide in him, right?
he sighed, a small blush dusting his cheeks. he covered his face to hide said blush. "i'm thinking about l/n.." he spoke, his voice slightly muffled. "l/n's so cool!" haibara took a moment to process. "WAIT, DO YOU HAVE A CRUSH ON-?!" nanami quickly shushed him, looking around to see if anybody had heard him. "yes, i do have feelings for them.." he admitted, bashful. "aww, nanami~!" haibara put an arm around him. "you should confess!"
"that's easier said than done" nanami told him. "every time i've tried, something always popped up. it's like one of those cliche romance movies you like." haibara hummed in thought. "not to worry, nanami! i got you covered!" he suddenly exclaimed, a wide smile on his face. nanami looked at haibara, very skeptical of what he had planned. "you have that look in your eyes..please don't do anything crazy.." he pleaded.

it's been a full day and haibara refused to reveal his plan to nanami. this caused him to get worried. you walked into the classroom. "hey you two" you greeted, smiling. "hello l/n.." nanami replied sheepishly. "hey l/n! nanami and i were gonna have a picnic later today, you in?" haibara asked, sending a wink towards his friend. this made nanami confused. they had never discussed anything about a picnic..
"sure! sounds like fun" you accepted. "great! we'll come get you" haibara told you, earning a nod. the two of you took your seats as class started. "what're you planning, haibara..?" nanami whispered. "you'll thank me later" haibara replied as he smiled.
the class ended as quickly as it had started and the three of you were released. haibara knocked on nanami's door, basket in hand. the door swung open. "i'm really sorry, nanami..i forgot that i was gonna train with the second years for a bit.." he said, frowning.
"is that so? then i guess-" "i guess you and l/n will just have to go without me!" haibara told him, pushing the basket into his hands. "what- haibara, wait!" nanami called out as haibara ran off. he stared down at the basket, sighing. he would look insane chasing after him, so he decided against it. you win this time, yu haibara..

you and nanami walked to the picnic spot. "is haibara not coming anymore?" "no, unfortunely not. he had to 'train with the second years for a bit'" he replied. "well, i appreciate you still going on the picnic! i'm really excited for it" you told him, smiling. "i didn't want to see you disappointed.." nanami spoke as another blush took over his features.
the two of you arrived at the spot, nanami's grip on the basket tightening. "a cherry blossom tree?" he asked. cherry blossoms were usually the place where high school students go to be romantic..
"it's so pretty!" you said, amazed. "yes, i suppose there's a..charm to it" nanami replied as he laid the blanket onto the grass. you both sat down. he opened the basket, his eyes widening. "are you kidding me, haibara..?" "what's wrong?" you peered into the basket. "oh, heart-shaped sandwiches!" you grabbed one and bit into it, satisfied with its taste. "he made it so obvious.." nanami muttered as he grabbed a sandwich and ate it.
there was little conversation between the two of you. haibara was usually the conversation starter, so without him, it was awkward. nanami glanced at you. should he make a move? his eyes traveled down to your hand. nanami took a breath before placing his hands onto yours. you turned to him. "sorry, your hand seemed..lonely..??" he stole that line from a romance movie haibara forced him to watch.
you chuckled, intertwining your fingers with his. nanami blushed. "was the picnic your idea so you could ask me out, nanami?" you asked. "no, it was haibara's..this was all part of his plan in order for me to confess my feelings to you" nanami admitted. "i was just a bit nervous.."
"yeah, same..i was always kinda scared that you'd reject me since i seemed a bit too silly.." you told him. "i don't think you're all that silly..you're more like a mixture of haibara and i, so it would balance out" nanami replied. you both smiled at each other. "does that mean we're dating now..?" you asked. "if that's what you want..i'll happily be your boyfriend" he spoke.
☆BONUS☆
"how'd it go, nanami??" haibara questioned excitedly. "well, we're dating now..i'm honestly impressed with how quickly you came up with that plan and even more impressed that it went flawlessly" nanami replied. haibara chuckled, a grin on his face. "i watch a lot of movies!" he said.
"even if the idea's from a movie..thank you, haibara" "no problem! i love helping out my friends!" haibara patting nanami's head happily.
