"Let's go," my voice seemed to be shaking on accident. I wasn't scared, but my voice continued to shake.
He walked up carefully and attempted to punch the side of my face, but my reflexes kicked in and grabbed his wrist before it could land.
His face grew white and his eyes widened, and I took the opportunity and quickly threw an uppercut and it landed on his chin. He staggered backwards and rubbed his chin, still his expression matched a deer in headlights.
"How'd you do that," He said quietly, staring into my eyes.
"What?"
"You stopped the punch, quickly, effectively."
"Reflexes I guess."
"I've never seen that," he looked over and Natalie had the same shocked look.
Brendon walked over and climbed out of the ring and walked over to grab a bag of ice from a freezer of ice I hadn't noticed before. He held the bag of ice to his chin, which was swelling. I walked to the side of the ring and climbed out.
"That was really cool Lily," Natalie said.
"Thanks, but it really was nothing. Just a fight," I said.
It was troubling to say it was just a fight. I had never been too violent, never been much of a supporter of fighting. Do what you want, but I never found myself to be that type of person. But stuff changes.
Everything changed. For the better or the worse.
"Anyway, Lily, what type of fighting and weapons do you know about?" Brendon said.
"I used to run alot if that means anything."
I loved running. I loved it so much. It sounds weird, but when you run and you just put your ear buds in it's an escape. The music blurs out the outside noises and the rhythm and beats blend away the reality.
"Well they do have treadmills, which may be unnatural and awkward here, but they do have some by the archery section," he said as he started to walk. He grabbed my hand carefully and started to pull me towards a huge archery range. We got closer and he turned to the side and walked to a small line of treadmills. There was a girl and a boy by the treadmills. The girl had long red hair and the boys hair matched. He sat on the ground, talking to her and taking sips of water every now and then as she ran on the treadmill.
"Hey," said the girl as she reached and turned the treadmill off.
"Hi," I responded but Brendon and Natalie gave her a cold shoulder.
"I didn't expect you to be one for the treadmills Brendon," she said, with venom dripping off her voice.
"Lily, this is Helen and her brother George. Ancestors of Hansel and Gretel," Brendon said without emotion.
"Brendon used to talk to us Lily, but then he decided he was too cool. I wouldn't get too attached to him Lily. He's not who you think," Helen said.
That's all everyone would say here.
Nobody's who you think they are. But that's society. Your best friend could be your enemy and your bitter enemy could be itching to say hi.
But that's society.
