The end of the summer came faster than I had hoped for.
I sigh at the thought of another year of college. I'm starting to regret letting Cameron persuade me.
"Okay, that's the last of it." My dad says closing the trunk of my car. This means it's officially time to go.
I groan being pulled into a hug from my mom. "Please don't make me do this again." I rest my head on my mom's shoulders, her arms wrapped around me so tight I can barely breathe.
As I pull away I see a tear roll down her cheek followed with a light smile. She continues to say nothing but her silence and tears tell me all I need to know.
"Get over here kiddo." I hear my dad's voice from behind. I throw my arms over his shoulders.
"I'm going to miss you guys." Even though this is my third time leaving them like this, I can't help but get emotional.
I notice my younger brother standing to the side. "Think you to cool to give your older sister a hug." He walks up embracing me in his lanky arms.
I motion my little sister to come over including her in the hug. I know us all getting along in this moment is making my parents wonder why we can't be like this all the time.
"Eve." I hear Cameron's voice call out for me. I say one last goodbye to my family and Cameron's climbing into the passenger seat.
"Ready to go?" Cam says starting the car.
"Ready as I'll ever be."
Since Cam is driving first she gets to pick music putting on Fiona Apple.
As I dose off into sleep I can't help but feel this year will be different, maybe it's the fact we don't live on campus anymore, but the small apartment is perfect for us, becoming even more perfect when we decorate it.
But is that really the reason this year feels different?
