Offroad POV

Offroad swallowed hard as he proceeded to walk into Mr. Zheng's study after knocking and being told to enter. Offroad didn't wait for the man to call him there he decided that it was time to man up. Daou had begged him to let him come with him but Offroad had sent him straight up to his room and told Boss to keep him there. This was something he had to do alone. Mr. Zheng had his head buried in paperwork as Offroad approached his desk.

"How are you feeling?" Mr. Zheng asked without looking up from his desk.

"Much," Offroad cleared his throat. "Much better." Offroad stood with his hands behind his back.

"I guess I can't be mad considering I contributed to the chaos that caused you played hooky." He sighed finally looking up and making eye contact with Offroad. "Take a seat," he waved to the chairs in front of his desk.

"Thank you," Offroad wai'd to him.

"According to the barge of text messages I have gotten from my son and friend in the past hour, I'm supposed to be easy on you." Mr. Zheng glanced at his phone screen before once again making eye contact with Offroad. "I'm quite surprised that my son hasn't busted down my office doors yet."

"I sent him to his room," Offroad informed him. "This is something I have to face on my own."

"Well," Mr. Zheng began, sitting back in his chair. "If my son does stay in his room you will be the first person he has listened to in almost 20 years so congratulations." He chuckled.

"I am sorry," Offroad said meekly

"Oh, about what?" Mr. Zheng asked.

"About going MIA for personal reasons I shouldn't have let my emotions get the better of me." Offroad began apologizing.

"We are human son, we are emotional creatures."

"Still it was no excuse."

"You are forgiven. Just don't let it happen again. The big day is coming up and I need everyone to be clear-minded and on point." Mr. Zheng said.

"Big day?" Offroad asked.

"With the Wu family backing us now, we have been granted the right for our licenses and business registration. The signing for everything is on Friday and we can start operations at the beginning of the month." Mr. Zheng explained. "So your contract will be coming to an end."

"Congratulations sir," Offroad said

"Thank you," Mr. Zheng sighed, looking hard at Offroad. "Are you here to apologize for anything else?"

"No, I love you son sir and that isn't something I will apologize for," Offroad said sheepishly.

"You know when Zax had called me to inform me what had happened at the birthday event I wasn't surprised." Mr. Zheng said, now fiddling with his pen. "My son looks at you the way I still look at his mother, completely head over heels." He sighed. "You know there is no giving him back, he is your problem now." The line had Offroad sitting at attention. "And you need to think carefully about it, he is the most spoiled, possessive, jealous, clingy person I have ever known and the boy is as stubborn as a mule."

"I love that about him, sir," Offroad informed him sitting on the edge of his seat. "I don't want to give him back." Mr. Zheng stared at him for a long time.

"Are you here looking for my permission?" He asked. To which Offroad nodded. "My son, while he is all the things I just mentioned, is an overly kind and caring boy who loves too deeply for his own good. Just know if you break his heart even Terry won't be able to protect you."
