Author's POV:
The air crackled with urgency as Y/N and Nayeon burst into the medical ward of the palace, their faces etched with concern. In Y/N's arms, a bruised and battered girl, her shallow breaths barely audible over the chaos surrounding them. As she laid her gently on a nearby bed, the tension in the room intensified, every moment feeling like a race against time to save her life.
Y/N's gaze flickered over to the medical personnel of the palace, their movements a blend of urgency and precision as they attended to the injured girl. Frustration welled within her; these were supposed to be the best healers in the kingdom? Laughable! Their actions seemed hesitant, almost faltering.
"Do you think she'll be fine, Y/N?" Nayeon asked, her voice unsteady, betraying her concern.
Y/N didn't answer immediately. False hope would only cause a larger scale of damage. She clenched her jaw to suppress the frustration threatening to spill out. Her few years of service to the royal family had taught her the cruel whims of fate. Hope is a dangerous emotion that could lead to heartache and disappointment.
"Y/N?" The princess' worried tone pulled her back to reality. Once her gaze returned to the personnel, frustration etched deeper into her features.
She stormed inside the ward, her footsteps heavy with annoyance as she swatted the crowd that gathered around the wounded girl.
"Move," she commanded, her voice dark and stoic.
The personnel were taken aback by the authority in her voice, stepping back without a second thought. Y/N examined the bruised girl, her brow furrowed in concentration. Silence hung in the room, so thick that a pin drop could be heard echoing against the walls.
As Y/N brushed a strand of hair away from the girl's bruised face, her hand trembled slightly, her mind racing with memories of past failures and losses. But amidst the turmoil, a steely resolve settled within her.
She might not be able to control the outcome of this moment, but she could damn well ensure that she'd do everything in her power to save this girl.
Covering the girl's forehead where the gash laid bare, a faint green glow emitted from her palm. With a focused concentration, she channeled her energy within her onto her palm, intertwining with the natural flow of life force around them. The glow intensified, casting a soft radiance that seemed to soothe the girl's pain.
