"He's just not getting any better, hyung." Changbin whispered as he and Chan walked out of the studio. "Should we take him to the doctor?"
"I don't know." Chan shrugged, scrolling through his phone, hoping for a text from Jisung but there was nothing. There was a text from his mom saying "I love you, baby" but other than that his phone was incredibly dry. Who would he text though? He was a JYPE trainee - they were barely allowed to text anyone.
"But he's been sick for so long. What if it's really serious?" Changbin suggested, fidgeting with the drawstring on his sweatpants.
"He's only had the fever for a day though." Chan answered, shoving his phone in his pocket as he and Changbin stepped outside onto the sidewalk. "Fevers can last for a while. He was only 100 degrees (F) this morning, maybe it's gone down."
"I hope so." Changbin mumbled as they continued on the path back to their dorm. They stopped by a boba shop to get some icy teas - maybe Jisung would drink it and it would lower his temperature? - and they continued back to the dorm.
It was silent inside when they stepped in. "Jisung, we're back!" Changbin called out but silence answered his voice. He looked up at Chan who dropped his backpack on the floor by the door and wandered into the tiny dorm.
Changbin carefully followed him, heart pounding. Maybe Jisung was asleep? He sure hoped so. Changbin hadn't known Jisung for long - about a month now - but he'd grown so attached to him that seeing him bedridden was heartbreaking to him. He just wanted Jisung to feel better, but he was barely even an adult, how was he supposed to care for someone? He just hoped Chan knew what to do.
The two walked down the hallway and peeked into their bedroom. They bunks were empty - two of them were made but the last was a mess. Jisung's bed. The blankets were on the ground so only the sheet was on the bed and the pillow was halfway across the room like it had lost a battle with Jisung. But said boy was missing.
"Where did he go?" Changbin whispered, voice too weak and scared to properly voice his concerns.
Chan shrugged and turned to look down the small hallway. Now that he was halfway down it, he could hear the shower running. Did Jisung try to shower? Maybe he was feeling better. Chan sure hoped so. They walked down the hallway, listening to the patter of water from the shower and staring at the light flooding out from the crack under the door.
"Jisungie?" Chan called through the door, tapping his knuckles against the wood. "We brought you boba. It's nice and cold - it might make your throat feel better."
There was no response. Changbin bounced on his toes, squeezing his hands into fists. He needed to make sure Jisung was okay. What if he wasn't though? They'd been gone at training all day. They never should have left.
"Sung?" Changbin called behind Chan, biting his lip to keep as quiet as possible for the youngest to respond. Silence.
"Hey Jisung, we're gonna come in, yeah?" Chan said, his voice wobbly. He was intimidating to most other trainees - Changbin had to admit he'd been intimidated at first too - but he could feel the fear rolling off of the elder. Chan was just as scared as Changbin. Luckily the door was unlocked, and Chan easily turned the handle.
A wave of steam and heat washed out of the bathroom, so much that Changbin nearly chocked on it. How hot was that shower? But Han wasn't even in the shower. The two boys stared in shock and panic at the boy on the floor, still in his t-shirt and boxers from earlier, sprawled out on the tiles. It's like he wasn't even trying to get in the shower and just decided to nap on the floor.
