So the song for this chapter is "New Person, Same Old Mistakes" by Tame Impala or Rihanna's cover "Same Ol' Mistakes"
June's Pov
——————————————-———————-After driving around for a while, I spot a cute coffee shop and decide to head there; I'm too hungry to wait any longer.
After five minutes of searching, I find a parking spot close to the coffee shop, park my car, and make my way inside. Meanwhile, my mind is still preoccupied with thoughts of what to do with the stuff in my basement and how to decorate my apartment to make it feel like home.
The aroma of coffee and chocolate brings me back to reality, and I take in the beauty of the coffee shop—the sound of people walking over the wooden floor, the brown tables with a hint of orange evoking the feeling of fall, and the sound of coffee brewing in the pot.
My thoughts are interrupted by the barista asking for my order.
"Good afternoon, miss. What can I get for you today?" she asks.
Still a bit lost, it takes me a few seconds to respond, I probably look like an Idiot right now. "This is my first time here. What do you recommend?" I smile at her.
"Well, during this time of year, people love to try the cinnamon macchiato with a side of carrot pie," she suggests.
"That sounds great. I'll have that, but could you add some whipped cream to the cake?" I ask.
"Of course! Take a seat; your food will be out shortly," she smiles.
I turn around, searching for a table, and notice one at the back of the coffee shop. I decide to take a seat there. As I approach, I'm startled to see a man already seated. He notices me, but doesn't say anything, returning his attention to his phone.
"I'm sorry to disturb you. I thought this table was free because, you know, it looks unoccupied from the front. Do you mind if I sit here? There are no other available tables, and I really don't want to wait until I get home to eat," I explain.
There's no response. He looks at me, giving me a chance to examine him—dark brown eyes, hair styled in a buzzcut, wearing a black shirt and jeans paired with black Converse. I notice the slit in his eyebrow, which adds to his attractiveness.
Oh, did I mention that this man is COVERED in tattoos...well, his arms and a bit of his neck.
"Well, I'll take that as a yes," I say, taking my seat. He returns to his phone, and we sit in silence. He still doesn't look up when my food arrives, so I shrug and start eating my cake.
"Have you tried the carrot cake already?" I ask him. No response.
"Well, you should; it's delicious," I say, sliding the plate towards him.
"Try it; I promise it's really good," he doesn't react and after 2 minutes I take the plate back. "Well, more for me," I say, unfazed, and continue eating. After 10 minutes, I'm done and full. The barista comes to our table, asking if I'm ready to pay, and I thank her. Before I have the chance to pay, the man who ignored me the whole time pulls out his card and pays for my meal.
"You didn't have to do that," I say, grateful nonetheless. The prices here are steep, and I didn't want to worry about a cake.
He doesn't reply as he stands up, revealing his towering height. I'm not short, standing at 5'8", but next to him, I felt small. He's probably 6'3" or 6'4". He looks at me once more his gaze so intense. I wonder what he's thinking right now. Before I could speak he turned around and started walking out without a word.
"Well, that was... weird," I think to myself. Why didn't he talk? Maybe he couldn't, or maybe I annoyed him, and he hoped I'd stop talking if he choose to ignore my existence. Trying not to dwell on it, I leave the coffee shop and head to my car. settling in, I connect my phone to the radio and start playing "Everyday" by A$AP Rocky I know GREAT song. Humming along, I explore the city as the sunlight slowly fades. Eventually, the sun sets, and I head home.
Arriving at my apartment and taking the elevator to the 8th floor, I try not to think about the unpacking awaiting me. As I enter my apartment, the silence intensifies the feeling of loneliness. Deciding not to dwell on it, I grab a few clothes and toiletries that I brought with me, and head to the bathroom, turning on the shower and waiting for the water to turn hot. After 5 Minutes I step into the hot stream of water and let myself settle in the coziness of the warmth. I started to wash myself taking my favorite shampoo and loofah to wash my body.
After 30 Minutes I turn off the hot shower, I feel refreshed, washing away the negativity of the day. I turn to my toiletry bag and pull out my tooth brush. Putting some paste on it I start brushing my teeth while listening to music.
After stepping out of the bathroom and walking into my room, I take my body lotion and moisturize my body before changing into my pajamas—a random top and boxers. With my hair tied up and my bonnet on, I walk towards my new bed and settle into it. Thankful for the early delivery of my bed, I plug in my phone, turn on Disney plus, and watch Modern Family until I feel my eyes grow heavy. Turning off my phone, I let the feeling of exhaustion engulf my body.
