June's PovThe cold breeze of my fan slowly brings me back to reality as I hear my alarm go off, already dreading the thought of having to get up from my warm and comfy bed. I reluctantly open my eyes, rubbing the sleep out of them and waiting for them to adjust to the bright light streaming through my window.
I look around my bedroom, engulfing the emptiness of the room. It's my new apartment, but it doesn't quite feel like home yet. The walls are bare, and the only furniture is a bed and a few boxes scattered around. I really have to get someone to help me bring that damn stuff up to my apartment.
This reminds me that I need to call my dad or, even better, I'm going to surprise him at the tattoo shop. Did I not mention that? My dad owns a tattoo shop that he's very passionate about. I think I've only been there twice before moving away with mom. Coming back made me realize how much I actually missed him.
Stopping myself from getting deeper into my thoughts, I push the duvet off my body, get up, put my slippers on, and walk into the bathroom. I brush my teeth, wash my face, and do the rest of my skincare routine. I take my bonnet off and put my goddess braids into a high ponytail. Leaving the bathroom, I put on an outfit suitable for a casual day out.
In the kitchen, I realize that I have nothing to eat, so I take out my phone and call Iris. She picks up on the second ring, greeting me with an energetic "Hello!"
"Woah, what's got YOU so energetic? It's way too early," I say, laying my head on the counter.
"You know I'm always happy when you call. And I got laid last night," she says, a grin evident in her voice.
I laugh, knowing my best friend's spell on guys. "I'm glad you're having fun, babe."
"Oh, I am, and don't think I forgot. We are going to the clubs tomorrow," she reminds me.
I just agree, knowing I can't change her mind even if I wanted to. "Alright, I called you because I have nothing to eat and I'm starving. You wanna go out and eat with me?"
"Sure, pick me up in 20?" she asks.
"Of course, bye."
"Bye, drive safe," she says, and I hang up, getting ready to drive to her house.
I make my way to the car, open the door, and take my seat. I start driving, the navigation system in the background helping me find my way to my best friend's house. Once I arrive, I call her, and she comes out to the car and greets me with a hug. While driving around to the café I went to yesterday, I tell her about the incident with that tall guy in the coffee shop.
"Was he hot?" she asks, eyes wide with curiosity.
"Very," is all I say, smirking.
"That sounds like the beginning of one of those cheesy romance books you always read," she laughs.
