Song for this chapter : Bed Peace- Jhené Aiko, Childish Gambino

June's PovBANG! BANG! BANG!
That's the first thing I hear when I slowly awake from my deep sleep.
I clutch my chest and breathe heavily, the loud noise startling me. I get up too fast, my vision still blurry and my head still pounding. I hear the noise again, followed by Iris' voice saying, "Open up, Juney. It's your favorite girl!"
Sighing, I put on some sweats and a hoodie and walk to the door to be greeted by my best friend. She walks in, dragging a big suitcase behind her. Still being very tired, I don't find the words to ask her why she's waking me up at 9 am knowing I'm not a morning person.
"I know, I know. It's very early, you're probably pissed off because I woke you up, but WE'RE GOING OUT TONIGHT," she says.
I look at her, dumfounded, turn around, and go back to my room. "Iris, I love you, but why couldn't you come in a little later?" I say, laying in my bed and putting the covers over my head.
"Because... going out at night means spending the day before and after together. Going out for dinner and doing some shopping, and then we come home, get ready, pregame, you know, all that stuff. It's gonna be GREAT."
I just hum and sit up from my bed. "Let me get ready first. Decide where you wanna eat in the meantime," I tell her, and she nods, opening her phone and looking for a nice cafe.
I walk into the bathroom, doing my business, brushing my teeth, doing my skincare, and oiling my scalp since my braids are very fresh. After I'm done, I come back to my room to find no Iris. I put on an outfit and walk into the living room that is still very empty and find Iris sitting on the kitchen counter. Not saying anything, I sit next to her and lean my head on her shoulder, being extremely tired.
After five minutes of silence, Iris tells me she found a cute cafe where we can have breakfast. "It's cute," she says. "It's also very close to all the stores, so we should be okay to walk from there to go shopping."
"Yeah, that sounds good. I really need to buy new clothes. I feel like I'm always wearing the same outfits in different fonts," I say, grateful to have a friend who understands my lack of talking and interacting in the morning.
"I brought my car, so we can take mine. I'll drive," she says, taking my hand, and we walk to her car.
After twenty minutes, we arrive at the cafe, sit down, and order our food. In the meanwhile, we talk about what we're gonna wear today and if we plan on hooking up tonight. "I don't think I will. You know I'm not into that whole hooking up thing. I just wanna get wasted and dance to Rihanna songs," I say while picking at my croissant.
"You never know," she says, smiling.
We continue our conversation, talking about God and the world. After we finish our meals, we pay and leave the cafe to walk to the stores for shopping. We enter store after store and end up having to dump our bags in the car before going back for more shopping.
After hours of shopping, we are finally done and make our way to the car. "I'm so hungry. Can we grab a meal before we go back to mine?"
"Yeah, we can't get wasted on an empty stomach. We know how that ends," she says, and I start laughing, remembering the story she's referring to. (That's for another time.)
We grab our meal and make our way home. After we eat, Iris takes a shower in the guest bathroom while I go to my bathroom to do the same. I wash my hair and proceed to shave. Why? I have no idea. Not like anything is gonna happen here.
