She did not know what she was expecting but it was not what she saw.

He stood there in all his glory, his best friend by his side having one hand slang over his shoulder. He was the person that all her life she had loved and idolized and even when she did not know what christianity or who christ was, she listened to him, his music touching the deepest parts of her soul. A memory of how much her sister had also loved him hit her hard and she considered for a moment that he was there for her sister. That hope however was snuffed off just as fast. There was no way the man was there for two village girls who barely knew anything. She was inclined to go say hi and introduce herself but she did not want to seem pushy and appear like a fan girl. She remembered that she was there for her sister not for the man that she was now fawning over. She took out her phone and dialed her sisters number all while her eyes  were not leaving him. He had not noticed her and his attention was to the conversation he was having with his friend but he seemed to get interrupted. Sera watched while he took something out of his pocket and bring it to his ear and it was in that moment that she heard it. His voice rang loud and clear.

"Hello,"

It was so unexpected and she found herself loosing grip over her phone that she had been holding so tightly. He was here for her sister. The initial shockwave did not pass as fast as she wanted it to because she found herself seemingly stuck in a loop that she could not walk out of. She tried to shake it off but that was when he turned around and noticed her. She tried to collect herself but seeing ones celebrity crush from the teenage years was bound to bring up some kind of emotion that was out of her control. It took her a full minute if not more to get back to her senses and be able to recollect herself enough to pick up her phone from the floor.

"Sorry, I'm here for Grace."

This time her eyes were fully on him. She could see his lips moving and she could hear his voice but only through the phone. He was looking at her all while he guided her to walk towards the two men that were at the corridor. There was a little hint of pain in his voice but she did not let that deflower her joy at hearing him and seeing him in person. She hang up and walked towards them with sure strides. She was over her fan girliness so she had the confidence of a horse while she made her way there. She stood right in front of them acknowledging them with a nod before sh whispered gentlemen, how is she.
She willed for the squealing little girl inside her to stop pushing forward to meet her crush. She was engaged now and the weight of the ring on her finger felt heavier than normal as did her guilt at the thought that it had come to this. She had left her sister with the monster far too long until it had come to this. She felt the rush of adrenaline wear off as the men briefed her on what had happened.

"She just fainted." He concluded.
Sera had not heard anything since the moment he had started speaking except one thing. Their father had done this to her sister. The man that was supposed to protect and care for her and her sister had decided to be the main source of their trouble and fear and restlessness. She felt anger rise within her for the man. She had worked so hard over the years to get herself to bury her resentment deep down but in that moment she could feel it rise as did the bile up her throat and she barely made it to the bin that was across the space before spewing her guts into it.

God I'm so sorry.

Her mind was working on overdrive and she could barely register most of the things that was happening. She felt somehow hold her braids back while she puked and once she was done, a tissue appeared by her side. She silently used it to wipe her mouth before she said thank you and walked away to find a washroom where she could rinse her mouth.
She watched her image in the mirror as she tried remembering what she looked like a while back. She had been scrawny but now her cheeks were fuller and had more color. She had matured a bit more and her eyes were sharper. She had not seen her sister in almost ten years and she was not sure how to react to seeing her again after all that time. She could already visualize what the girl would look like. Gracie, as she had fondly called her then, had the same facial features as her, with a sharp nose and full eyes as well as the complexion of dark chocolate. She wondered if the girl had grown to be taller and prettier. Yes, she had seen the photos, but photos didn't always do justice. She threw water on her face as one thought fleeting trough her mind, what if she hates me?
