Yesterday, Vincenzo had just came out from the shower when his phone rang. It was an unknown number, but he didn't hesitate to receive the call and to his surprise, it was Hong Cha Young....
Now, he's in his car driving to the cafe where he's going to meet her. He's messed up. His mind's like a disorganized room full of crumpled paper on the floor. He wonders why she wanted to meet him. But anyways, he's going right now and is trying his best to clear his mind.
Dio Mio, he's never been this messed up in his entire life not even when he did something extremely dangerous. Then why the hell is he messed up right now? datti una calmata, Vincenzo.
On the other hand, Cha Young is regretting her hasty actions. She's sitting in a cafe waiting for the man she called. A part of her mind says her to leave but she knows that it isn't nice, and this isn't a solution. How is she going to ask the man what she wants to ask? She feels stupid. What the hell is your problem Cha Young? Can't even talk? And here you decided to be a feisty lawyer like your father?
She starts to feel sad after thinking about her father. She soon wakes up from her delusions when she got aware of someone's presence.
Vincenzo has arrived at the cafe and is now looking for a woman he is familiar with and has to get familiar with. When he spots her, he walks slowly to the table she's seated at.
While walking, he realizes that she is beautiful and pretty.
Dici sul serio, Vincenzo? Are you serious, Vincenzo?
He reaches the table and sees her be aware of his presence and suddenly stands up.
"Mr. Cassano" She bows politely.
"Ms. Hong. Please sit down."
When they both were seated, Vincenzo spoke again "How are you doing?"
"I'm better, what about you?"
Vincenzo's mind speaks "Sto facendo terribile." I'm doing terrible. but instead says "I'm doing good."
There is an awkward silence then which is suffocating for both of them and so Vincenzo decides to finish it before it becomes unbearable for him "Would you like to drink something? Coffee?"
"Ahh, ye."
Vincenzo orders a double shot espresso for himself whereas Cha Young orders an iced-americano. After ordering, Cha Young spoke up "Byeonosanim, where are you from?"
Vincenzo smiles and replies "Italy, Ms. Hong, I guess my name made it obvious, didn't it?"
Italy. It's him.
"Aaah, ye but I thought you're from France. They are quite similar countries, aren't they?"
"Byeonosanim?" Cha Young questions again.
Vincenzo looks up at her gesturing her to speak.
Cha Young starts to get nervous and starts playing with her fingers.
"Have you met my father; do you know him?"
Vincenzo is a bit surprised by the question and wonders where's this conversation is heading but replies honestly, nonetheless.
" Yes Ms. Hong, we've met, in Italy. My father and your father were friends, more like companions."
"Companions?"
Vincenzo was about to answer when the waiter arrived with their coffees. Once she left, he spoke again.
"Yes, companions. My father owns law firms in Italy where your father worked, they got very close later on..."
"Oh, I see..."
Silence engulfed them both again, Cha Young was deducing conclusions with the answers she got when suddenly Vincenzo spoke up.
"Why suddenly all these questions?"
Oh great, now what do I tell.
"I read my father's diary yesterday."
"Pardon?" This woman has always made Vincenzo caught off-guard.
Cha Young didn't answer him and continued.
"I read about Fabio, which I suppose is your father. There was a lot written about him and the conversation they had one night...."
Vincenzo was surprised yet again. So, she knows about them being mafia and about his father, so she might know....
"He also wrote that he met you and your family. I was shocked to know that my father had ties with the mafia but then what he wrote seemed right to me. I don't judge you by who you are and what you do. I might even think you are the right ones."
Cha Young is surprised herself. She hadn't thought about the mafia topic yesterday and hastily called this man. That's why she was nervous and regretted her actions. But now, a little back to life, she thinks her father is right. She hasn't saw what they do and how they do but she just knows... She even thinks she's gone mad to think this, but she knows her father speaks from experience and she trusts what he had written except for the.... marriage thing.
Vincenzo is shocked. She's really courageous to talk this out. And the fact that she knows who they are, but she still thinks they are right! Not knowing what they can do and what they are capable of. He really wants to know what her father had written in the diary. Would she react the same if she came into their world? He thought he was messed up before coming here but now he's actually messed up.
He knows it's better to talk it out like she did and so he tells her.
"I'm quite shocked you know this all and yet you're here. I came here to Korea because of my father's last wish. At first, I thought it would be some business to finish in Korea but then I got to know it was regarding you. The time when we first met, it was my first day in Korea and I wasn't familiar with you. It was until a few days after, I opened the letter my father had given me and got to know the whole scenario, the letter he wrote had his last wish. Reading that letter, I got to know that my father and your father were really close, and my father was very sincere with Yoo Chan-shi You called a few moments after I read the letter, which was indeed, a perfect timing...."
Cha Young listened everything intently. She sipped her coffee because her throat was suddenly dry. She never thought that after her father left, she will discover these things and people.
Vincenzo didn't tell what his father's last wish was and so out of pure curiosity, she innocently asked.
"You didn't tell what your father's last wish was. What do you mean it was something regarding me?"
Cha Young had completely forgotten about the marriage thing, and she didn't even have the slightest idea of what the last wish could be.
Vincenzo took a large sip of his espresso and looked straight into Cha Young's eyes with nothing but seriousness.
Cha Young was getting anticipated, she also sipped on her coffee when he suddenly spoked after clearing his throat.
"He wanted me to marry you."
Hearing this, Cha Young choked on her drink.
