Kinn liked Porsche.

Not only sex with him was phenomenal - the best he ever had in his life- but he also enjoyed his company.

Porsche was an honest man.
Considering the world of hypocrisy he grew up in, the liars he even slept with, it was a quality he particularly valued.

He admired him too. Porsche was persistent and optimistic. In two months, he never heard him complain once about having to go to work, or whine about what life threw at him, when he could have, because it hadn't been easy on him. Porsche had to give up his studies to provide for his brother, which was a shame, because he was obviously very bright.

Kinn had offered him a job one day, after Porsche had came home an hour late, with a good pay and a chance of career progression, but he haf refused:
"Thank you, but now that Porchay is married and I don't have to worry about money, I just want to relax and enjoy my life."

He had told him about his dream to open his own bar by the sea, and Kinn had promised to himself that he'd offered it to him one day. He was pack now. But also, that was how much he liked him. And he liked him everyday a bit more.

Kinn thought that their little affair would last, at most, a week, but they never seemed to stop being hungry for each other. As weeks turned into months, it started to... worry him. Scare him even. His heart was not ready for anything beside sex. But Porsche was becoming softer with him, more tender. He'd put a hand on his lower back when they'd walk beside each other, kiss his cheek when they'd joke around, or caress it after sex.

And the look in his eyes... Kinn recognized it. It was the same look he had on the pictures of his mating ceremony with Tawan. It made his heart wrench each time he noticed it. He felt bad for the beta. And bad for himself.

So during his business trip, he made a decision. He had to stop it. For both their sake.

When he came back though, his father summoned him before he could leave for Porsche's.

"You wanted to talk to me, dad?"

"Yes Anakinn, please have a sit." His father was sitting in front of his chess table. "We haven't played for years, will you join me?"

"Sure."

"How was the trip."

"Good."

"I heard about the new partnership, congratulations."

Kinn sighed. "Who told you? I haven't announced it yet."

"Don't worry, Anakin. I will not intervene."

"I sure hope so." Kinn was pissed, he was losing the game too.

"Kim and Porchay should be back soon."

"Already?"

"Time flies, son." Then added after an instant of silence:
"Maybe you can stop babysit his brother now."

Kinn's hand stopped his movement.
"Did you spy on me?"

"I was just making sure my son was doing alright."

"I can't believe this." Kinn tossed the pawn he was holding on the board. "You have no right to meddle in my private life."

"As the head of the family I do. Tawan is a part of the pack since you both mated so I shall provide protection for him as well."

"He cheated on me!"

"And?"

Kinn brusquely stood up.

"And?!"

"Your mom and I also fought but we always came back to each other, that's what true mates do."

"He's not my true mate!"

"Even if he's not, he's your mate. Contrary to the beta."

"He has a name."

"Anakin. Open your eyes, you have no future together. If you even cared for him, you'd set him free. Don't you think he'd want to build a family one day? Have children of his own? What a broken male alpha like you will offer him?"

"ENOUGH" Kinn commanded, he couldn't bear to hear one more word coming out of his mouth. He knew it all already. It tore his heart at night.
His father obliged. Kinn's alpha had always been stronger than his.

"I will deal with my own business, meanwhile I forbid you from getting near Porsche. Am I clear?"
His father lowered his head, "If you insist, alpha".

Kinn stayed in his bedroom the whole day.

When he finally gathered the courage to meet Porsche, it was late at night.
All the tension in him left as soon as he caught sight of his beta.

He was already asleep in his bed, lying on the side, the beautiful line of his waist attracted Kinn's embrace.
He smelled so good, and his skin felt so warm under his touch, so he buried himself inside of him, for one last time.

When Porsche kissed him, his decision was final.

"Fuck!" Kinn swore when he read his last text. He wanted to throw his phone on the wall but he needed it for his work, so he grabbed his head between his hands and pulled his hair instead.
