Bangkok’s night sky had never appeared so gloomy. Kinn was listening to the noisy rain in silence, facing the big windows in his living room like a night watchman.

He hadn’t even bothered turning the lights on when he came back from his business trip. It was past 3 am, and he didn’t want to wake Tawan up, although he was probably sound asleep, seeing as the door of the guest room he had been using for months was closed. Well, unless he left for one of his retreat again during his absence.

Kinn finished his glass of whisky in one gulp and put it back down on the side table.

He felt restless.

He had been for weeks now, even more since Kim’s engagement party two weeks ago. And he could feel his rut getting closer. Again.

Kinn wondered if it was the accumulation of months of sexual frustration, that made him so insatiable.

He sighed.

Not so long ago, Kinn would come home to his mate’s warm nest.
Now, it was just him and the lonely night.

But when Kinn finally decided to go to sleep, he heard a door slamming. Soon, he saw the light of the entrance hall through the reflection of the window.

Was it his driver, Big? Did he forget something in the car?

When he turned around he was surprised by the view of his mate.

“Oh! Kinn!”

Even with the half-light, Kinn could see his alarmed face.

“You weren’t supposed to come back till Thursday.”

“The deal got canceled.” Kinn simply answered as he moved closer to him.
His eyes instinctively roamed over his mate, but then he noticed how messy his hair was, the wrinkles in his shirt and his reddened and swollen lips.
Kinn’s mind got blank.

He walked the last strides separating him from Tawan and grabbed his neck to sniff it.

And immediately pushed him back.

“Whose smell is this.”

“Kinn…” Tawan looked terrified.

“I said. Whose smell is this.”

Tawan didn’t answer, he was looking at him with big teary eyes.

“Is this why you’ve been so distant?”
Kinn couldn’t believe this. “Always leaving to somewhere?”

But somehow it all made sense now.

“Are you cheating on me?!” Kinn’s voice broke at the end despite himself.

“No Kinn, it’s… It’s not what you think!”

“LOOK ME IN THE EYE AND TELL ME YOU DIDN’T CHEAT”, his alpha growled and Tawan’s deafened silence told him everything he needed to know.

He stepped back.

“You disgust me.”

“It was just one time, I swear…”

“We sealed our souls, Tawan! You said you thought I was your true mate! Was this all a lie?!” Kinn had almost screamed, even with the lump in his throat.

“No, Kinn, you’re my true mate, it’s just-“

“Leave.” Kinn interrupted him. He couldn’t ear one more lie coming out of his mouth.

“Kinn-“ Tawan stepped towards him.

“I SAID LEAVE. NOW. LEAVE MY HOUSE. LEAVE MY PACK. I DON’T WANT TO SEE YOUR FACE ANYMORE.”
